A Lasting Education<\/h2>\n\n\n

Thank you for featuring me in the Spring 2025 issue (\u201cHonoring Tradition, Nourishing the Future\u201d<\/a>). The magazine is an invaluable resource that fosters community and connection among alumni and their families. It not only keeps us informed but also celebrates our shared experiences and achievements. Being included was truly an honor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While some say a college student\u2019s first-year learning may be obsolete by graduation, that has never been true of the meaningful education I received at Monmouth. My opportunities have only grown and flourished over the years, and I\u2019m proud to be part of the Monmouth University community!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Fortuitous Discovery<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n

I recently read \u201cFort Monmouth: The US Army\u2019s House of Magic\u201d by Melissa Ziobro \u201904, \u201907M, which I learned about from your Summer 2024 issue (\u201cThe View from Here\u201d<\/a>). It is a terrific book on many levels\u2014thorough, factual, and rich with historical insight into key U.S. government decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As it turns out, Monmouth University and Fort Monmouth once shared a powerful collaborative relationship that benefited Monmouth students. I even found an article in the Monmouth magazine archives highlighting this connection (\u201cForging Strong Ties,\u201d Winter 2000<\/a>). Even more meaningful to me: the Dr. Jacobs mentioned in the article was my father. He worked at both Fort Monmouth and Monmouth College, where he founded the electrical engineering department.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
