IGU interns play a vital role in advancing the Institute\u2019s mission to promote global awareness, interdisciplinary collaboration, and experiential learning across campus. Interns gain hands-on experience in research, event coordination,<br>communications, global engagement, and leadership while contributing to high-impact programs such as the Pearson World Cinema Series, Fulbright outreach, sustainability initiatives, and student innovation projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This internship is open to motivated students from all majors who are passionate about global issues, public engagement, and collaborative work.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"position-overview\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Position Overview<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Interns may be assigned to work directly with the IGU Director, Advisory Council, and\/or committee chairs. Based on interest and skillset, interns may support one or more of the following priority areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Communication &amp; Media Committee:<\/strong> digital storytelling, social media strategy, website updates, event promotion, photography, and content creation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Partnerships &amp; Outreach Committee:<\/strong> external relations, UN partnerships, community engagement, faculty mapping, and global program coordination.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Entrepreneurship &amp; Innovation Initiatives:<\/strong> support for the IGU Global Impact in Entrepreneurship Award, student venture development, and interdisciplinary innovation programming.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Advisory Council Support:<\/strong> meeting preparation, note-taking, research tasks, and coordination across committees.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Event Programming:<\/strong> assistance with the Pearson World Cinema Series, Global Understanding Convention, sustainability events, and visiting scholar programs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"key-responsibilities\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Key Responsibilities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Assist with planning, logistics, and execution of IGU events and programs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conduct research on global issues, international education, sustainability, or entrepreneurship.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Draft communications, social media posts, website content, and outreach materials.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support Advisory Council committees through coordination, documentation, and project tracking.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Engage with students, faculty, staff, and community partners to promote IGU initiatives.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contribute to IGU\u2019s mission of fostering global citizenship and interdisciplinary learning. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"qualifications\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Qualifications<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Strong interest in global issues, intercultural engagement, sustainability, policy, communication, or innovation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a professional environment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reliability, creativity, and a commitment to inclusive global engagement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience with social media, design tools, research, or event planning is a plus (not required).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"time-commitment\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Time Commitment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Internships run Fall 2026 or Spring 2027.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Interns may receive academic credit, experiential learning hours, or co-curricular transcript recognition depending on program requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"application-requirements\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Application Requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Submit the following materials as a single PDF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>R\u00e9sum\u00e9<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Short statement of interest (300-400 words) describing your motivation, relevant experience, and preferred committee area(s).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>One faculty or staff reference (name and email only).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"deadline-amp-submission\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Deadline &amp; Submission<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Applications are due August 15, 2026 and should be submitted to <a href=\"mailto:miyu@monmouth.edu\">miyu@monmouth.edu<\/a> with the subject line: \u201cIGU Internship Application \u2013 Fall 2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Institute for Global Understanding (IGU) invites applications for undergraduate internships for the 2026-2027 academic year.
