The Honors School Peer Mentoring Program is comprised of our graduate assistant and approximately 30 peer mentors. The program provides every first-year Honors student with an upper-class peer mentor. The mentors meet directly with their mentees (first-year students) to provide them a better transition into college life through various activities ranging from simply meeting for coffee or attending a Hawks game, to attending one of the many events that the Honors School hosts. The graduate assistant is responsible for programming and ensuring the quality of the program, as well as addressing any issues the mentors or mentees may have. The purposes of the Peer Mentor Program are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

to enhance first year Honors students\u2019 experience at Monmouth University and the Honors School,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
to create a sense of community within the Honors School, and to encourage mutually beneficial, positive and lasting relationships between students, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n
to provide first year students the opportunity to network and cultivate relationships with upper-class Honors students and to interact comfortably with people and groups from diverse backgrounds and interest areas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
The Peer Mentor Program is constantly growing and changing to meet the needs of our students. First-year Honors School students recognize the importance of peer connections as they acclimate to university life, and upper-level Honors students are excited to share their knowledge and experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
