Dana plays on the MU Division I women’s soccer team, and was recently honored with the 2018-2019 Leadership Award from the coaches. Dana has exceled both on and off the field. She is an active member of Chi Alpha Sigma (Athletic Honors Society) and the Monmouth Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Dana earned a place on the women’s soccer MAAC All-Academic Team and the Monmouth University Dean’s List.
This past spring Dana traveled to Guatemala with Professor Chris Hirschler and the service-learning class (HE-376: Guatemala Public Health). This course introduced students to the concepts and practice of public health in a developing country. Students were able to expand their understanding of health issues that exist in Guatemala by teaching health/physical education lessons to women living in a domestic violence shelter in Quetzaltenango.
Dana said, “This experience was amazing. Service is extremely important in my life and having an impact on this underprivileged community was beyond fulfilling. I hope that I continue to collaborate with organizations like, A Better Life Foundation Guatemala in the future as I continue my journey in the healthcare field.”
Dana has completed over 1,000 hours of experience in the physical therapy field and is currently working as an aide at Twin Boro Physical Therapy. She has volunteered for several community service projects including numerous events with the Big Brother Big Sister Foundation, Read Across America, Team Impact, TOP soccer, and the Schroth School. In the future, Dana plans to work towards advancing the health and well-being of communities all over the world.
