Brittany hosts Bake Sale to raise donations for women in an underdeveloped Cuban community.

Brittany made Dean’s list every semester so far in her college career as a senior. She is also a member of several honor societies here at Monmouth including Gamma Sigma Alpha, Rho Lambda, Order of Omega, and Phi Eta Sigma.

Brittany spent four weeks during the summer of 2017 taking health electives abroad in Italy as part of Monmouth’s study abroad program in Florence.

As part of her Health in Developing Countries class (HE 375), Brittany recently took on a project to help women in need. She hosted a bake sale at her church where she raised more than $500 to donate to women in an underdeveloped community in Cuba. A month later, she traveled to Cuba to deliver the money and supplies that she acquired from her fundraiser. She met the community in need and the leader of an outreach in Cuba that is building a facility for women to learn skills to be able to make an income.

For the past two summers, Brittany has shadowed a Physician Assistant at the Neuroscience Institute at JFK Hospital in Edison, NJ. During her time at the hospital, she was able to interact with patients and their families first-hand and gain better insight into the career she wants to pursue. She was able to observe several neurosurgeries in the operating room including a craniectomy, an aneurysm clipping, and biopsies of brain tumors. This opportunity helped her become even more confident with the career she wants to pursue for her future.
