Meet Our Student
Shannon Sheedy received her Bachelor of Science in Health Studies and minor in Communication Sciences and Disorders in May 2018. During her time at Monmouth University she worked as a peer tutor in health courses and a peer mentor for the Department of Health Studies and Physical Education’s pilot program. She also worked privately for a family as a companion for their child who has Down Syndrome.
An active member of Eta Sigma Gamma National Health Education Honor Society, Shannon also spent her time interning at Abilities in Action in Wall Township, as well as organizing multiple collections for donated items to help those in need. Shannon worked on a Fruved grant obtained by Dr. Hirschler and Professor Evans which involved conducting and evaluating a campus health assessment and health promotion activities designed to increase fruit and vegetable consumption, reduce stress, and increase physical activity.
In 2018, Shannon was admitted to Stockton University’s Master of Science in Communication Disorders. Shannon is an active delegate for the Graduate Student Council, and she plans to work with children as a Speech-Language Pathologist. Shannon encourages students seeking to earn an advanced degree to become involved in undergrad, meet people, and be open to all possibilities.
As Shannon added, “You may just end up somewhere you never thought that you would!”
