About Our Alum
Lauren Mrazik graduated from Monmouth University with her Bachelor’s in Health and Physical Education with an endorsement in K-12 (2017) and Masters in Special Education (2018). She was a part of the Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society, Rho Lambda National Panhellenic Honor Society, and Gamma Sigma Alpha Academic Honor Society. On campus, Lauren involved herself in community service and held multiple leadership positions through the Delta Phi Epsilon Sorority.
Lauren knew from the beginning of her college career that helping individuals lead a healthier lifestyle was a career she wanted to pursue. However, she didn’t realize that her true passion was working with children until she was in her first field placement at the Margaret L Vetter Elementary School. This is where Lauren combined her passions of health and working with children into her dream job as a health and physical education teacher. Lauren was a part of the year-long student teaching program at Monmouth University and believes that the clinical hours, in the form of observation and student teaching, helped prepare her to structure the learning environment from the moment she began teaching. While working with students with disabilities at Bayshore Middle School, during her senior year, Lauren discovered how satisfying it was to help students achieve new milestones. During her senior year, Lauren applied to Monmouth University’s Masters of Special Education Program, in which she completed during the summer of 2018.
Lauren secured a physical education job one month after she graduated. The job that she took was for a physical education teacher in an Early Learning Center (ages 3-6) that had never had a physical education program prior. Her new principal told her, “You are going to build this program from the ground up.” Lauren loves teaching both general education and special education students the fundamental skills of exercise, sports, and how to implement healthy living skills into their everyday lives.
