About Our Alum

Founder and Director of East Coast Dodgeball (since 2005)

After transferring from Brookdale Community College with an Associates in History, John earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Studies (2010). After graduation, John held the position of Director of Activities and Volunteers at Sunrise Senior Living before becoming Director of Arts and Entertainment at Brandywine Living of Wall.

In 2016, John said, “If I’m not facilitating an exercise class or hosting a game show, I partake in tennis three or more times per week and make an effort to work on my volleyball, cornhole, and table tennis skills as well. An exciting game of dodgeball through my league, East Coast Dodgeball, is never out of the question either.”

In 2018, John secured a new position. He shared, “I was at a career crossroads; I realized that I had accomplished everything I could in programming and recreation over the last 9 years and, I was ready to move on and up in a slightly different direction. My new duties include managing the physical and mental health of the residents with the care team. I oversee and occasionally partake in programming/activities as well as the dining experience throughout the entire memory care neighborhood.”

John points to an advising meeting with Dr. Konopack as a pivotal moment that provided him with academic and career direction. John said, “That meeting altered and stabilized my path into a Health Studies degree.”
