Meet Our Alum

Brielle Mayes, received her Bachelor of Science in Health Studies in May of 2018. During her time at Monmouth University she served as a peer tutor in subjects such as Abnormal Psychology and Anatomy and Physiology, a resident assistant for two years, president of Tau Eta chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., a dedicated member of the National Council for Negro Women, and the African American Student Union, and became inducted into Eta Sigma Gamma National Health Education Honor Society.

Under the guidance of her faculty advisor, Dr. Andrea Hope, Brielle was encouraged to explore a variety of health professions and discovered her interest in occupational therapy. She found her passion for the career while taking coursework at Monmouth University such as Lifespan Development and Physiology with Anatomy. Such coursework and countless shadowing hours led her to pursue the career.

“My experience at Monmouth University has equipped me to follow my passion and advocate for others.”

She is thrilled to start a new journey in Washington D.C., where she will attend Howard University. She will earn a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy and hopes to work in pediatrics.
