Master of Science in Data Science

Prepare to solve complex problems across a variety of industries by mining, analyzing, and interpreting data. With Monmouth’s M.S. in Data Science, you will study computer science, statistics, machine learning, data visualization and other relevant interdisciplinary areas that will position you as a leader in this cutting-edge field. You will be armed with techniques and frameworks to harness the power of Big Data.

Our program consists of foundation, core, and elective classes, with the option to pursue either a practicum or thesis. Students with a background in computer science may waive up to 12 foundation credits.

In addition to mastering data analysis languages and tools, such as Python, R and Tableau, you will apply what you learn in the classroom to real-world problems by working in teams and delivering solutions to external companies and clients. With an interdisciplinary focus, your coursework will prepare you not only to gather and analyze data, but also to present your findings in compelling and innovative ways.

As a graduate of this program, you will be an effective communicator who is able to critically address data analysis problems and present predictive solutions using creative visualization tools. With employment opportunities in this field expected to grow much faster than average at 16 percent through 2028 (BLS, 2020), this is the perfect time to pursue a career in data science.
