{"id":239,"date":"2019-09-11T19:55:40","date_gmt":"2019-09-11T19:55:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/finaid\/?page_id=239"},"modified":"2024-10-23T20:34:44","modified_gmt":"2024-10-23T20:34:44","slug":"new-jersey-world-trade-center-scholarship","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/finaid\/undergraduate-aid\/grants-and-scholarships\/new-jersey-world-trade-center-scholarship\/","title":{"rendered":"New Jersey World Trade Center Scholarship"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This scholarship was established to benefit dependent children and surviving spouses of New Jersey residents who were killed in or who died as a result of the terrorist attacks against the United States on September 11, 2001 or who died as a result of illness caused by exposure to the attack sites. In order to apply, you must complete the World Trade Center Application through the <a href=\"https:\/\/njfams.hesaa.org\/NJFAMS\/login.aspx?ReturnUrl=\/NJFAMS\/int\/FinAid\/index.aspx\">NJFAMS portal<\/a>.\u00a0 The deadline for fall and spring term is October 1 of the academic year for which aid is requested. The deadline for the spring term only is March 1 of the academic year for which aid is requested.\u00a0 Based on current funding levels, the maximum award amount is $6,000 per academic year. The scholarship is not available for summer or winter term classes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to be eligible, students must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be a child or spouse of an individual who was a NJ resident on September 11, 2001 and who was:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Killed in the terrorist attack against the U.S. on September 11, 2001<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Died as a result of injuries received in the attack<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Died as a result of illness caused by exposure to the attack sites<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Declared missing an officially presumed dead as a result of the attack<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide documentation to verify eligibility<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be a U.S. citizen, eligible non-citizen, or eligible to file the NJ Alternative Financial Aid application<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be a full-time, undergraduate student<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eligibility to apply is limited to eight years from the date of the child\u2019s high school graduation and\/or eight years from the date of the death for the spouse<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain satisfactory academic progress<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete an application each year and not have received the maximum allowable number of payments (eight semesters of payments for a regular four-year degree program; five semesters of payments for a regular two-year degree program.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"videos-on-this-topic\">Videos on this Topic<\/h2>\n\n<iframe \n\t\t\tsrc=\"https:\/\/embed.ocelotbot.com\/cms\/embed\/video\/45160?current_entity=69833&amp;dim=responsive\" \n\t\t\tallowfullscreen=\"true\" \n\t\t\tclass=\"fatv-video\" \n\t\t\ttitle=\"What is the New Jersey World Trade Center (WTC) Scholarship?\"\n\t\t><\/iframe>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This scholarship was established to benefit dependent children and surviving spouses of New Jersey residents who were killed in or who died as a result of the terrorist attacks against the United States on September 11, 2001 or who died as a result of illness caused by exposure to the attack sites.
