{"id":16038,"date":"2026-02-18T16:24:15","date_gmt":"2026-02-18T16:24:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/finaid\/?page_id=16038"},"modified":"2026-02-18T16:24:16","modified_gmt":"2026-02-18T16:24:16","slug":"monmouth-university-need-grant","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/finaid\/monmouth-university-need-grant\/","title":{"rendered":"Monmouth University Need Grant"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Monmouth University Need Grant is awarded by Monmouth University to undergraduate students on the basis of unmet financial\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/help-center\/answers\/article\/what-does-financial-need-mean\">need<\/a>.\u00a0 Awards are automatically granted to qualified students (not to exceed direct costs).\u00a0 Awards are available only to students who are completing their first bachelor\u2019s degree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Monmouth University Need Grants are renewable provided the student maintains full-time status, a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0 and continues to demonstrate unmet financial need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Important information about the Monmouth University Need Grant:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The grant can be applied only toward tuition assessed by Monmouth University and cannot be applied toward housing costs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students participating in the tuition remission or tuition exchange programs are not eligible for an award.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Grants are NOT available during the summer or winter terms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students must be full-time (i.e., 12 or more credits) for each semester of the award. However, during the semester of student teaching, who are otherwise eligible and enrolled in less than 12 credits will receive a prorated award.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Awards can be applied toward study abroad charges ONLY when tuition is assessed by Monmouth University.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students studying off-campus at the Washington Center or in the clinical semester(s) of the Clinical Laboratory Sciences and Medical Technology programs can receive the grant if they meet all other eligibility criteria.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Please Note:<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Changes in housing status as well as changes in unmet need can affect the student\u2019s eligibility for the Monmouth University Need Grant.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fafsa.gov\/\">FAFSA<\/a>\u00a0must be completed in order to determine the student\u2019s eligibility.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>NJ Dreamers should complete the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hesaa.org\/Pages\/NJAlternativeApplication.aspx\">NJ Alternative Financial Aid Application<\/a>\u00a0in lieu of the FAFSA.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Non-NJ Dreamers should complete a FAFSA listing themselves as neither a citizen nor eligible non-citizen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>International students are not eligible for this award.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p><a id=\"_msocom_1\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p><a id=\"_msocom_1\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Monmouth University Need Grant is awarded by Monmouth University to undergraduate students on the basis of unmet financial\u00a0need.\u00a0 Awards are automatically granted to qualified students (not to exceed direct costs).\u00a0 Awards are available only to students who are completing their first bachelor\u2019s degree.
