High need subject areas are defined as follows:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Bilingual Education and English Language Acquisition<\/li><li>Foreign Language<\/li><li>Mathematics<\/li><li>Reading Specialist<\/li><li>Science<\/li><li>Special Education<\/li><li>Other identified teacher shortage areas as of the time you begin\r\nteaching in that field. These are teacher subject shortage areas (not\r\ngeographic areas) that are listed in the Department of Education\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www2.ed.gov\/about\/offices\/list\/ope\/pol\/tsa.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Annual\r\nTeacher Shortage Area Nationwide Listing<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In the\r\nevent that a student is unable to fulfill the teaching service requirements,\r\nthe student must be aware that there are serious financial consequences. If a\r\nTEACH grant is disbursed to a student, but the student later does not fulfill\r\nthe reaching service requirements, the amount of money awarded as a TEACH grant\r\nbecomes a loan to be repaid with interest (at the same rate as the federal\r\nUnsubsidized Stafford Loan), and the interest is compounded from the time the\r\ngrant was initially disbursed. (Note: once a grant is converted into a loan,\r\nthe recipient will be given a six-month grace period prior to entering into\r\nrepayment of this loan.) Once a grant has been converted to a loan, it cannot\r\nrevert back to a grant.
