Cost and Financial Aid

Federal Work Study Program

The Federal Work Study (FWS) program provides part-time employment for undergraduate students with financial need. Positions are available both on campus in University departments and off campus in non-profit settings. Average work study awards are $2,000 per academic year. Most positions pay between $8.60 and $10.00 per hour. All students interested in participating in the Federal Work Study program must file a FAFSA. Awards are made on a first come, first served basis and students are notified of their eligibility via the financial aid award letter. Students interested in securing a position should plan to attend the Hawks Career Link and Workshop Fair sponsored by the Student Employment Office during the first week of class in the fall semester. Students who are not initially awarded Federal Work Study funds may request funding by contacting the Financial Aid Office. Additional students will be accommodated as funds become available. Renewal of Federal Work Study funds is dependent on the student completing the FAFSA before funds have been exhausted. Priority is given to renewal students.
