The Gionandrea Pugi Scholarship Fund has established a scholarship program to assist student’s of Italian descent who are currently enrolled in college or vocational school programs in the field of medicine or biology.
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- Be of self-declared Italian descent.
- Be currently enrolled college undergraduates planning to continue full-time study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire 2019-20 academic year.
- Be enrolled in studies in the field of medicine or biology (such as taking courses in preparation for Medical or Nursing school).
- Have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or higher.
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award ranging from $5,000 to $10,000. Up to five (5) awards will be granted based on overall merit.
Awards are renewable up to three years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first, on the basis of satisfactory academic performance.
Awards are for undergraduate study only.
Selection of Recipients
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic information, leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an outside appraisal. Financial need will not be considered.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer of the Gionandrea Pugi Scholarship Fund play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
