Monmouth University offers a Direct Access Point of Service (POS) medical insurance plan through Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey. Full-time employees are eligible for coverage, as well as their spouse, domestic partner, and dependent children. Click here for the plan overview.

Benefit Highlights, Fall 2015

MU Health Center

Not feeling well? Visit the Health Center on campus.
The University Health Center is available to all employees and their spouse/domestic partner who are enrolled in our medical plan for common, non-urgent illness or work-related injury. This is a very convenient service if you are not feeling well and need to be evaluated by medical personnel.

Location: University Road on the north campus, adjacent to Birch Hall and the Monmouth University Library.  

Clinic Hours, Fall and Spring Semesters:

  • Monday through Thursday: 8 a.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Friday: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

    There will also be a mobile mammography unit on Campus on October 14 from 9am – 4pm and they will see anyone with or without insurance at no cost.  This information is accurate and can be found at

A Horizon representative will be on campus one Tuesday each month from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to address employee questions and concerns. Call the Office of Human Resources at 732-571-3470 to schedule an individual appointment.

Overview of Vision Benefits

Current vision coverage for all full-time employees, as
well as their spouse, domestic partner, and dependent children, is available
through the University’s medical insurance carrier, Horizon Blue Cross Blue
Shield of New Jersey through Davis Vision.

  Vision coverage by a participating physician includes:

  • an annual eye exam with a $10 copay.
  • $25 copay for lenses and a hardware reimbursement of up to $225 depending on frame selection.  These hardware services can be accessed every 24 months.

Out-of-network benefits for vision services are also
available through Horizon (Davis Vision).

have access to vision benefits.  All
medically related eye conditions or eye injuries will maintain coverage through
the medical plan.

Seasonal Flu Clinic:

  • Wednesday, November 3, 2015, Anacon A, 1 p.m. – 7p.m.

University Fitness Center Memberships

Membership at the Fitness Center is a free benefit to all employees and their spouse/domestic partner. Employees can obtain a registration form in the Office of Human Resources. Look for e-mails offering a variety of motivational programs to improve your health and well-being.
