National Theatre Live\u2019s 2010 broadcast of Frankenstein returns to
\ncinemas as part of the National Theatre’s 50th anniversary celebrations.<\/p>\n
Frankenstein
\n enjoyed a sell-out run at the National Theatre, and went on to win
\nawards including the 2012 Olivier Award for Best Actor for Benedict
\nCumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller. <\/p>\n
Oscar-winner Danny Boyle
\n(Trainspotting, Slumdog Millionaire) directs a sensational production.
\nIn this encore screening Benedict Cumberbatch (Star Trek: Into Darkness,
\n BBC\u2019s Sherlock) plays Dr. Frankenstein and Jonny Lee Miller
\n(Trainspotting, CBS\u2019s Elementary) his creation. <\/p>\n
Childlike in his
\ninnocence but grotesque in form, Frankenstein\u2019s bewildered creature is
\ncast out into a hostile universe by his horror-struck maker. Meeting
\nwith cruelty wherever he goes, the friendless Creature, increasingly
\ndesperate and vengeful, determines to track down his creator and strike a
\n terrifying deal. Urgent concerns of scientific responsibility, parental
\n neglect, cognitive development, and the nature of good and evil are
\nembedded within this thrilling and deeply disturbing classic gothic
\ntale. <\/p>\n
