DESCRIPTION:Monmouth University will host its Annual Holiday Bazaar on Tuesday\, December 5\, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.\, in the Rebecca Stafford Student Center\, Anacon Hall. This event is free and open to the public. \nLocal venders will be selling a variety of fun and unique products including jewelry\, home goods\, clothing\, cookware and much more. \nThe event is sponsored by the Global Experience Program\, Monmouth University students who will be spending their winter\, spring break or summer breaks volunteering in Haiti\, Guatemala\, or Nicaragua to aid the under-privileged. Raised by a single parent\, his journey has taken him from a small town in New Jersey to Yale University\, where he was a scholarship student and three-year starter on the varsity football team\, to the Fordham University School of Law\, where he helped finance his legal education with winnings from three appearances on the television quiz show “Jeopardy\,” to courtrooms and classrooms throughout the country\, and\, ultimately\, to the upper echelons of television journalism. \nCurrently a CBS News Correspondent for “60 Minutes Sports” and the co-host of “Metro Focus” on PBS (WNET-New York)\, he is also the Co-Founder and Chief Anchor of the American Education Network. Mr. Ford began his television news career in 1984 with WCBS-TV in New York. In 1991\, he was an original anchor at the launch of Court TV. He also appeared in Fred Friendly’s award-winning PBS Media and Society broadcasts\, serving as Moderator for “That Delicate Balance II: The Bill of Rights.”

The annual Symposium on Influencing Government Policy is sponsored by the New Jersey Baccalaureate Social Work Education Association (NJBSWEA)\, and the National Association of Social Workers –New Jersey Chapter (NASW-NJ). The focus of this year’s symposium will be on Race Relations and Environmental Justice\, and will include a Keynote speaker followed by a series of workshops that explore related policy issues. \nBSW and MSW students are encouraged to participate in this year’s symposium by developing poster presentations. These posters must be related to the policy arena. Student’s posters may involve: \n\na discussion of the policy advocacy efforts students have participated in\na discussion of student research findings that have direct relevance to the policy arena\na discussion of a practice experience that has direct relevance to the policy arena\na theoretical analysis of an ethical dilemmas faced in the policy arena\,\na discussion of a special events the student has participated in that have direct relevance to the policy arena\na policy analysis\nanother focus that is of direct relevance to the topic of social justice in the policy arena\n\nStudents interested in presenting posters should submit a title for their presentation\, the names of presenting students\, and an abstract to their school’s NJBSWEA representative. Abstracts should be no more than 250 words and should provide a concise overview of the content of the poster presentation. Proposals will be reviewed based upon their clarity and focus\, relevance to the topic of social justice in the policy arena\, and strength of design. Students whose poster presentation proposals are accepted will be required to develop a mounted poster\, and informally discuss their content with those who visit their poster station during the symposium. \nAbstract Submission Due Date: Feb 12\, 2016
