SUMMARY:Supporting Systems and Communities in Achieving Racial Equality: A Groundwater Analysis - presented by Joyce James
DESCRIPTION:Voices for Change: Voting\, Advocacy\, and Action\nIn this presentation\, Ms. James will share her journey in developing the Texas Model for addressing Disproportionality and Disparities and the Groundwater Analysis for Addressing Racial Inequities© as the foundation for creating antiracist organizational cultures for undoing institutional and structural racism and improving outcomes for all populations. Participants will gain an increased understanding of the importance of cross systems collaborations and building partnerships with poor communities of color to remove the barriers that contribute to racial inequities. The session will include discussion of the pitfalls of well-meaning and well-intentioned leaders\, who in isolation of an analysis of institutional and structural racism\, and a racial equity lens\, continue to unconsciously contribute to sustaining and often perpetuating racial inequities in the design and delivery of programs and services.

Often considered the thinking person’s rock ‘n’ rollers they were also one of the most successful musical acts of the 1960’s.  \nThis three-session virtual course taught by Gary Wenstrup\, uses  audio and visual content to trace the arc of Simon & Garfunkel’s career from their surprise teenybopper hit “Hey Schoolgirl” …to the folk-rock classic “Sound of Silence” to the ever popular “Mrs. Robinson” …to the majesty of “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” It will also cover their careers post-breakup with special attention paid to Paul’s world-wide smash “Graceland.” \nZoom Link will be provided upon registration.

DESCRIPTION:Click or tap for information and registration\n\nPlease join us on Tuesday\, December 14\, 2021 for the inaugural Julian Francis Abele “Out of the Shadows” Virtual Public History Symposium. \nThis event\, which is being presented virtually on Zoom from 9 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.\, is named in honor of pioneering African American architect Julian Francis Abele\, who contributed greatly to the design of Monmouth University’s Great Hall (previously known as both Shadow Lawn and Wilson Hall). \nOur first annual keynote speaker will be Dreck Spurlock Wilson\, author of Julian Abele\, Architect and the Beaux Arts. A number of other presenters will then speak about their work\, with plenty of time allocated for questions and answers. \nPlease feel free to come and go throughout the day as your schedule allows. DESCRIPTION:Join us for Tuesday Night Book Club! Hosted by Monmouth University’s Ken Womack\, each month we’ll explore a different novel. All you have to do is Zoom in and join the discussion! \nThis month’s novel is Bruce Springsteen\, Born to Run. \nIn 2009\, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band performed at the Super Bowl’s halftime show. The experience was so exhilarating that Bruce decided to write about it. That’s how this extraordinary autobiography began. Over the past seven years\, Bruce Springsteen has privately devoted himself to writing the story of his life\, bringing to these pages the same honesty\, humour and originality found in his songs.\n\nBorn to Run will be revelatory for anyone who has ever enjoyed Bruce Springsteen\, but this book is much more than a legendary rock star’s memoir.
