Veit\, Ph.D. \nThe treacherous Jersey shore has been the untimely grave of thousands of seafaring vessels. This well-illustrated presentation examines a select group of New Jersey ships and shipwrecks reflecting the importance of maritime transportation to the history of the state. All you have to do is Zoom in and join the discussion! \nThis month’s novel is James Baldwin’s GO TELL IT ON THE MOUNTAIN. Go Tell It On The Mountain\, first published in 1953\, is James Baldwin’s first major work\, a novel that has established itself as an American classic. With lyrical precision\, psychological directness\, resonating symbolic power\, and a rage that is at once unrelenting and compassionate\, Baldwin chronicles a fourteen-year-old boy’s discovery of the terms of his identity as the stepson of the minister of a storefront Pentecostal church in Harlem one Saturday in March of 1935. Baldwin’s rendering of his protagonist’s spiritual\, sexual\, and moral struggle of self-invention opened new possibilities in the American language and in the way Americans understand themselves. \nFree and open to the public\, but registration is required. DESCRIPTION:Nature is Nurture: Counseling and the Natural World provides an overview of the theoretical constructs of Ecotherapy with historical considerations and recent research discussed. Perspectives and reflections will be offered through the presenter’s own experiences. Examples of practical ways to incorporate Ecotherapy with different populations\, as well as descriptions of other Ecotherapy modalities will be included. \nThis live online workshop will be presented by Megan Delaney\, Ph.D.\, LPC\, Assistant Professor\, MU Department of Professional Counseling. \nThis program is two (2) NBCC credentialed continuing education hours which can be used towards the professional development requirements for NJ licensed counselors\, social workers\, and alcohol & drug counselors.
