SUMMARY:The Holiday Guys starring MARC KUDISCH & JEFFRY DENMAN
DESCRIPTION:Location: Pollak Theater \nThurs. November 29 at 8 p.m.  \nFri. November 30 at 3 and 8 p.m. \n \nSun. December 2\, 2012* at 3 p.m. \nTickets: $30\, $40 \n \nStarring three-time Tony Award winning nominee Marc Kudisch (Thoroughly Modern Millie\, 9 to 5\, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang\, The Apple Tree\, The Wild Party) and Award-winning quadruple threat actor/singer/dancer/choreographer\, Jeffry Denman (White Christmas\, The Producers\, How to Succeed In Business)\,\n two of the most talented performers on Broadway today\, singing and\ndancing their way through classical holiday tunes in a fresh and\n“hilarious” re-gifting of the true meaning of the holidays. \nIt’s a funny\, musical celebration of the rivalry between Hanukkah and\n Christmas and an irresistible and affectionate reclaiming of the true\nmeaning of the holidays created by two brilliant creative minds. It’s a\nunique blend: two parts Smothers Brothers – quirkiness and\nsentimentality; one part nostalgic innocence and sincere goofiness of\nLaurel and Hardy\, one part sophisticated and joy filled song and dance\nroutines of Kelly and Kaye\, and one part infectious humor and holiday\nvariety show of Hope and Crosby. When gently stirred and served next to a\n roaring Yule log fireplace\, you have an undeniably contagious and\nheartfelt holiday gift. Christmas and Hanukkah will never be the same!   \n“One of the most entertaining shows in recent years.” \n-Broadwaystars.com \n*Please note that the December 2 performance at 8 p.m. was cancelled.*

SUMMARY:Aftermath Series - Joel Meyerowitz
DESCRIPTION:February 4 – March 22\, 2013\nPollak Gallery\nFree & Open to Public\nAfter September 11th\, 2001\, the Ground Zero site in New York City was classified as a crime scene and only those directly involved in the recovery efforts were allowed inside. The press was also prohibited from the site\, but with the help of the Museum of the City of New York and sympathetic city officials\, award-winning photographer Joel Meyerowitz managed to obtain unlimited access. By ingenuity and sheer determination\, he was the only photographer granted unimpeded right of entry into Ground Zero. For 9 months\, during the day and night\, Meyerowitz photographed “the pile\,” as the World Trade Center came to be known\, and the over 800 people a day that were working in it. Influenced by Walker Evans and Dorothea Lange’s work for the Farm Security Administration during the Great Depression\, he knew that if he didn’t make a photographic record of the unprecedented recovery efforts\, “there would be no history.” \nSelected Works from the Joel Meyerowitz Aftermath Series is made possible by the generous gifts from: Mr. and Mrs. Simon Levin\, Mr. and Mrs. Steven Gross\, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Zucker\, Mr. Jeffrey H. SUMMARY:Student Movie Posters from the Department of Art & Design
DESCRIPTION:2nd Floor\, Rechnitz Hall \nWhat can you do with 4 colors\, 4 names\, 2 locations\, 2 dates\, 2 films genres and 4 adjectives?\n\nFor this project\, students are asked to create a concept for a movie poster for a film that does not exist. As a point of departure\, students are asked to type up a list of colors\, locations\, names\, dates\, adjectives\, and film genres. These words are then cut and distributed (via the nearest baseball hat). This compilation of information is then used as the catalyst for the story. From this exercise\, students write a summary of the movie including plot line and character development. Once the story concept is discussed and approved\, each student begins a visual journey resulting in the work displayed here on the gallery walls.\n\nCoursework from:\n\nAR374 Digital Imaging: Fall 2011\, Spring 2012\, Fall 2012\nProfessors Bright and Cresson
