SUMMARY:Bolshoi Ballet: Ivan the Terrible (Broadcast in HD)
DESCRIPTION:Music Sergei ProkofievLibretto Yuri GrigorovichChoreography Yuri GrigorovichCast The Bolshoi Principals\, Soloists and Corps de BalletBroadcast in HD \nAs young Ivan IV is crowned\, he has to choose one of the 13 Boyar daughters to be his wife and tsarina. He selects Anastasia\, and the two eventually fall deeply in love. When the Boyars plot against him and poison his beloved wife\, Tsar Ivan finds himself surrounded by enemies. Haunted by dark thoughts and phantoms\, he slowly sinks into madness. Drawing on the music composed by Prokofiev for the 1944 Eisenstein film\,   \nIvan the Terrible is a work in the true Bolshoi style. Yuri Grigorovich’s powerful and fascinating epic dramatizes Ivan the Terrible’s controversial reign\, and portrays events in 16th‐century Russia in visually stunning scenes. His choreography\, full of vigor\, strength and wild jumps\, also includes great grace and fragility in the female roles. Sensitive classical and powerful character dance blend to create a lyrical epic\, rich in the colors of medieval Russia.Recently revived\, Ivan the Terrible is an essential part of the company’s repertoire\, a 20th‐century classic and a wonderful theatrical experience. \nEstimated run time: 2 hours\, 15 minutes\, including 1 intermission of 25 min

SUMMARY:National Theatre of London: The Hard Problem (Broadcast in HD)
DESCRIPTION:Acclaimed playwright Tom Stoppard (Shakespeare in Love\, Arcadia\, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead) returns to the National Theatre with his highly-anticipated new play The Hard Problem\, directed by Nicholas Hytner (Othello\, Hamlet\, One Man\, Two Guvnors). Hilary\, a young psychology researcher at a brain science institute\, is nursing a private sorrow and a troubling question at work\, where psychology and biology meet. If there is nothing but matter\, what is consciousness? This is ‘the hard problem’ which puts Hilary at odds with her colleagues who include her first mentor Spike\, her boss Leo and the billionaire founder of the institute\, Jerry. Is the day coming when the computer and the fMRI scanner will answer all the questions psychology can ask? Meanwhile Hilary needs a miracle\, and she is prepared to pray for one.

SUMMARY:Women Waging the Way
DESCRIPTION:The event focuses on an important issue that touches all individuals\, equality. Women have made immense progress over the last century in regards to obtaining parity\, but still today women face discrimination based on their gender. Women Waging the Way aims to foster the equality of all humans by showcasing artists of all gender and backgrounds along with art of young girls in India who are currently learning the importance of acceptance through the “Rainbow Program.” The Rainbow Program is a school in Loreto Sealdah\, Kolkata\, India that works to integrate girls of diverse socio-economic backgrounds and foster the common goal of breaking the cycle of poverty and empowerment through education. \nThe event will take place on one night and will showcase fine art\, theater\, and music through two “acts.” All artwork will be displayed on easels in a semi-circle on the stage and will serve as a “backdrop” for Act 1. Act 1 will consist of performances by young artists who will present songs\, skits\, and other performances that focus on the theme of the night. During Act 2\, attendees will be offered the opportunity to view the art up close and take part in a silent auction. There will be a mix of art from local artists that will be up for auction and artwork from children who are currently enrolled in the “Rainbow Program.” \nThe net-profits will be donated to Women and Girls Education International (WAGE International)\, a 501(c)(3) organization based in Monmouth County that works to empower through education. \nThis event is sponsored by the Monmouth University Center for the Arts. SUMMARY:National Theatre of London: Man and Superman (Broadcast in HD)
DESCRIPTION:Academy Award® nominee Ralph Fiennes (The English Patient\, Schindler’s List; Oedipus at the National Theatre) plays Jack Tanner in this exhilarating reinvention of Shaw’s witty\, provocative classic. \nA romantic comedy\, an epic fairytale\, a fiery philosophical debate\, Man and Superman asks fundamental questions about how we live. \nJack Tanner\, celebrated radical thinker and rich bachelor\, seems an unlikely choice as guardian to the alluring heiress\, Ann. But she takes it in her assured stride and\, despite the love of a poet\, she decides to marry and tame this dazzling revolutionary. \nTanner\, appalled by the whiff of domesticity\, is tipped off by his chauffeur and flees to Spain\, where he is captured by bandits and meets The Devil. An extraordinary dream-debate\, heaven versus hell\, ensues. Following in hot pursuit\, Ann is there when Tanner awakes\, as fierce in her certainty as he is in his.
