SUMMARY:Exhibition on Screen – Cézanne: Portraits of a Life
DESCRIPTION:EXHIBITION ON SCREEN is thrilled to present one of the most talked-about exhibitions. Dedicated to the portrait work of Paul Cézanne\, the exhibition opens in Paris before travelling to London and Washington. \nFeaturing interviews with curators and experts from the National Portrait Gallery London\, MoMA New York\, National Gallery of Art Washington\, and Musée d’Orsay Paris\, and correspondence from the artist himself\, the film takes audiences beyond the exhibition to the places Cézanne lived and worked and sheds light on an artist who is perhaps the least known of all the impressionists – until now.

SUMMARY:Exhibition on Screen – David Hockney at the Royal Academy of Arts
DESCRIPTION:Widely considered Britain’s most popular artist\, David Hockney is a global sensation with exhibitions in London\, New York\, Paris and beyond attracting millions of visitors worldwide. The latest film in the EXHIBITION ON SCREEN series allows up-close access to this 21st-century master and his two recent blockbuster exhibitions held at the RoyalAcademy of Arts in London. \nFeaturing intimate and in-depth interviews with Hockney the film offers rare insights into the man behind such iconic works as A Bigger Splash and A Closer Grand Canyon. In conversation with Tim Marlow (Artistic Director at the Royal Academy of Arts)\, Hockney reveals anecdotes from across his artistic and personal life – from his first trip abroad to Egypt in 1963\, to the effects of the death of his close friend Jonathan Silver in 1997\, right up to today. The film also provides a rare chance to explore two of Hockney’s landmark exhibitions from his late career\, guided by the exhibitions’ curatorial team and the artist himself. A Royal Academician since 1991\, Hockney has a close relationship with the institution\, creating both exhibitions specifically for the gallery spaces and thus making them entirely unique shows.

SUMMARY:I Want My MTV!\, Part 1
DESCRIPTION:Class Schedule: February 11\, 18\, 25\, 2027 | 7:30 – 9:00 PM \nOn August 1\, 1981\, six words began a revolution: “Ladies and gentlemen\, rock and roll.”  That announcement kicked off not only the music video age but also a change in popular music.  The second British invasion\, hair metal\, and Michael Jackson: MTV ushered in a new crop of artists and genres whose music still resounds today. \n\n\nPart one explores the beginnings of music videos\, from Fats Waller’s 1940s “soundies” to the Beatles’ promotional films to the Monkees TV series.  By the 1970s\, countries such as Australia and England aired TV shows featuring promotional film clips\, with Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” illustrating the genre’s early creativity. Michael Nesmith saw the potential of these programs in the US\, helping to create what became MTV. \n\n\nMultimedia presentations and discussions will trace the journey from the earliest soundies to August 1\, 1981: the beginning of a new musical revolution.

SUMMARY:Exhibition on Screen – Easter in Art
DESCRIPTION:The story of Christ’s death and resurrection has dominated western culture for the past 2000 years. It is perhaps the most significant historical event of all time\, as recounted by the gospels but\, equally\, as depicted by the greatest artists in history. From the triumphant to the savage\, the ethereal to the tactile\, some of western civilization’s greatest artworks focus on this pivotal moment. \n\n\nThis beautifully crafted film explores the Easter story as depicted in art\, from the time of the early Christians to the present day. Shot on location in Jerusalem\, United States and throughout Europe\, the film explores the different ways artists have depicted the Easter story through the ages and thus depicts the history of us all. \n  \n
