Idaho born singer-songwriter Josh Ritter has been called one of the “10 Most Exciting Artists Now” by Entertainment Weekly and one of the “100 Best Living Songwriters” by Paste Magazine. The New York Times praises: “Josh Ritter has a way with metaphor. It’s one of the literary touches in his music that have established him among the cream of the young singer-songwriter crop.” His sixth studio album “The Beast In It’s Tracks” was released in March to more critical acclaim with NPR Music calling it “gorgeous and glorious.” Opening for Josh Ritter will be Acoustic singer/songwriter and Monmouth University Music Industry Student Natalie Zeller.

DESCRIPTION:Peter Pan is an adapted version of J.M. Barrie’s classic tale created by John Caird and Trevor Nunn. This touring production explores the journey of a group of children in turn-of-the-century London who use their imaginations to reenact the story of Peter Pan. This story empowers children to create their own world of make-believe. \nAs the children fly to Neverland and escape the evil Captain Hook and Mr. Smee\, they recognize the importance of friendship as well as the value of being part of a family. DESCRIPTION:Lewis Mumford\nSelections from the Monmouth University Permanent Collection\nThe Dimattio Gallery – Upper Level\nLewis Mumford\, a dynamic writer\, literary and architectural critic\, moralist\, historian and philosopher. Born in Flushing\, NY\, on October 19\, 1895\, Mumford’s extensive contributions to literary scholarship\, technology\, urban planning\, and architecture are internationally renowned for their uncanny social vision and their timely prescience. Lewis Mumford criticized progress based on the intoxicating power of technology and the machine. He argued that the advancement of civilization should be cultivated by humanism\, and that technology should never be used to acquire global domination\, promote military prowess\, or erode individualism. \nLewis Mumford\, however\, was no pacifist—he despised fascism and urged America to fight in both World Wars. Like George Orwell\, he often accused his liberal contemporaries of being corrupt\, and claimed that their “willingness to submit to the Nazis rather than risk the need for using force in opposing them” was nothing short of egregious. \nHis many prestigious awards include the Medal of Freedom from President Lyndon Johnson\, the Presidential Medal of Art and Citation from Ronald Reagan\, and the Knight of the British Empire (K.B.E)\, an honor bestowed on him by Queen Elizabeth II.
