DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, Nov. 9\, 2024 \n10 a.m. to 2 p.m. \nGiving back to those who need help is what the Big Event is all about. \nThe Big Event is the single largest community service project that takes place at Monmouth University every year. Every fall\, approximately 200 to 400 members of the Monmouth University community sign up to be a volunteer at one of the 10 to 25 Big Event work sites in the towns that surround campus. \nThe Big Event has become somewhat of a national phenomenon at a number of colleges and universities throughout the United States. It originated at Texas A&M University in 1982 when 6 students felt the need to give something back to the communities of College Station and Bryan Texas. \nDuring the Spring 2000 semester\, members of Monmouth University’s Student Government Association attended the Conference of Student Government Associations (COSGA) at Texas A&M where our Senators learned all about the Big Event. They decided it was a program that should be brought back to the Monmouth community. \nTwenty four years later\, the Monmouth University Big Event has become a signature program for SGA. The Big Event is held in fall and anyone affiliated with Monmouth University is encouraged to become a Big Event volunteer. SUMMARY:Hawks on the Road at Florida International University
DESCRIPTION:Join fellow Monmouth friends and family for a pregame tailgate in lot 10 at Pitbull Stadium on the campus of Florida International University. A buffet will be available to all registered guests along with a cash bar. The cost to attend is $30 per person ages 12 and older. Children 11 and under are free with an accompanying paid adult. The tailgate begins at 3:30pm and ends at 5:30pm. Kickoff is set for 6:00pm. $1 of the registration fee is a donation to the Athletic Director’s Excellence Fund. \nTailgate registration does NOT include a ticket to the game. Monmouth will occupy the bench in front of sections 130-135.

SUMMARY:Intramural Golf
DESCRIPTION:Monmouth Recreation is offering an Intramural Golf league open to all students. The league will run for 3 straight weeks starting September 9 and finishing September 29. Students will play one 9-hole round each week\, for three straight weeks\, and scores will be logged on IMLeagues. All golf rounds will be played at Old Orchard Country Club in Eatontown and the cost is $30 to ride and $20 to walk. \nRegister for the league or email pkovac@monmouth.edu for more information!
