SUMMARY:Virtual Tuesday Night Book Club: Amor Towles' A Gentleman in Moscow
DESCRIPTION:Join us for Tuesday Night Book Club! Hosted by Monmouth University’s Ken Womack and Michael Thomas\, each month we’ll explore a different novel. All you have to do is Zoom in and join the discussion! \nThis month’s novel is Amor Towles’ A Gentleman in Moscow and joining the conversation will be the special guest host Anika Chapin. A Gentleman in Moscow immerses us in another elegantly drawn era with the story of Count Alexander Rostov. When\, in 1922\, he is deemed an unrepentant aristocrat by a Bolshevik tribunal\, the count is sentenced to house arrest in the Metropol\, a grand hotel across the street from the Kremlin. Rostov\, an indomitable man of erudition and wit\, has never worked a day in his life\, and must now live in an attic room while some of the most tumultuous decades in Russian history are unfolding outside the hotel’s doors. Unexpectedly\, his reduced circumstances provide him a doorway into a much larger world of emotional discovery. \nWhen you register you will be provided the meeting link to join the conversation. GET MORE INFORMATION ON HOW TO USE ZOOM

SUMMARY:Creating Opportunity in Chaos - Jenna Gaudio ’09
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by Jenna Gaudio ’09\, senior vice president of operations at Vydia. \n“Feeling like the odds are against you? When I graduated from Monmouth University in 2009\, the sentiment of our commencement speaker was\, ‘It’s tough out there.’ At the time\, it was the worst economic recession my generation had ever seen and I was bartending at TGI Friday’s with the distant dream of paying off my college loans. In that moment\, I began my journey of learning how to thrive in the worst conditions. Since then\, I’ve gone from assistant to executive in a male-dominated industry\, successfully ran the NYC marathon during my biggest transition of personal and professional life\, survived a pulmonary embolism I was not likely to recover from\, and was promoted in the middle of a pandemic. Finding success is not as easy as it sounds—and I’ve never met anyone that’s followed a straight path to the finish line—but I’ve learned there is a certain strategy and mindset that puts the odds in your favor. If you are struggling with motivation\, can’t seem to get to the next level\, or just aren’t sure where to start\, let’s talk about the active role you can play to create opportunity in chaos.” \nJenna Gaudio is a senior executive in the media tech industry who specializes in building and scaling successful product\, marketing\, and operations teams. Gaudio currently serves as the senior vice president of operations at Vydia\, an award-winning media tech company that powers the independent labels of music entrepreneurs like Kanye West\, Akon\, and Dre London. Prior to Vydia\, Gaudio founded the marketing team at a video ad tech company and played a critical role in the company’s successful acquisition in 2015 for $33M. She has been awarded accolades including The Product Group’s Product Leader of the Year\, NJBIZ’s 40 Under 40\, and The American Business Association’s Bronze award for Female Executive of the Year and Women Helping Women. Gaudio also serves on the executive board of Jersey Shore Women in Tech\, an organization that supports\, educates\, mentors\, and develops a network for women in business. Gaudio graduated from Monmouth University Honors School with a focus in communication and screen studies. \nRegistration\nOops! We could not locate your form.

SUMMARY:Go Now! The Music of The Moody Blues LIVE streamed from the Harlequin Theatre
DESCRIPTION:In an endless sea of rock and pop formats\, The Moody Blues distinguished themselves through five decades as that shimmering jewel vindicating rock music as a substantial artistic contribution to Western culture.  Since the 60’s\, as a part of the historic original British invasion of Supergroups\, The Moody Blues lit up the hearts and minds of millions of rock fans with inspiring anthems like “Nights in White Satin\,” “Tuesday Afternoon” and “I’m Just A Singer (In A Rock and Roll Band)\,” which express universal themes of love\, compassion and peace.  They have sold in excess of 70 million albums worldwide and have been awarded an astonishing 14 platinum and gold discs. They were inducted into the Rock & Roll hall of Fame in 2018 and ceased touring at that time. \nGordon Marshall\, drummer with The Moody Blues for over 25 years\, knew that there was a hunger in the market for Moody Blues music.  To fill the void\, he put together an amazing group of musicians and formed the band GO NOW!\, a tribute to the music of The Moody Blues. Mick Wilson\, the lead singer of GO NOW!\, was the lead singer with 10cc for over 20 years.  Gordon and Mick are joined on stage by Patrick Duffin\, Ryan Farmery and Nick Kendall\, and together recreate the magical music we all know including all the major hits.  With 25 years experience with The Moody Blues\, Gordon has created true-to-the-original arrangements\, making every performance truly magical. \nThe live streamed performance at the Harlequin Theatre in London marks the first time since early spring that the band will come together and perform\, on stage at this beautiful theatre\, with a brand new\, never before seen concert!
