Leahy\, Monmouth University President\n\n\n\n\nModerators\n\n\n\n\n\nSen. Vin Gopal A Democrat representing New Jersey’s 11th legislative district. Gopal serves as chair of the Senate Education Committee and Majority Whip.\n\n\n\n\n\nSen. Joe Kyrillos (Ret.) Former Republican state senator who represented the 13th district. Kyrillos served as the Republican State Chair and is also a former Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate.\n\n\n\n\n\nPanelists\n\n\n\n\n\n The United States Senate confirmed President Obama’s nomination of Judge Salas in 2011. Judge Salas was the first Latina District Judge in the District of New Jersey. She has also advocated for legislation to ensure greater protections for judges.\n\n\n\n\n\nU.S. District Judge Peter Sheridan The United States Senate confirmed President George W. Bush’s nomination of Judge Sheridan in 2006. Judge Sheridan received his senior status in 2018.
