Three sparkling scenes accompanied by the music of three essential composers\, feature the styles of the three dance schools that have contributed to making George Balanchine a legend of modern ballet. \nThis glamorous triptych was inspired by Balanchine’s visit to the famous jeweler Van Cleef & Arpels on New York’s Fifth Avenue\, and created as an homage to the cities and dance schools of Paris\, New York and St. Petersburg that made a vital impact on the revered choreographer’s career.

SUMMARY:Black Like Me: An Exploration of the Word N-----
DESCRIPTION:Black Like Me: An Exploration of the Word N—– is a multidisciplinary work that explores the reverb of a single word in a global community. It considers the effects of the word n—–  \, all its permutations\, its history\, and its casual use in Hip Hop culture. In collaboration with two of America’s leading Black media-design technologists and local activists\, it asks if it is possible to redefine a word that was intended to belittle a people. Black Like Me combines physical\, verbal\, visual and sonic language to tell five narratives and perspectives in a unique way. \nJade Solomon Curtis is a dance artist and choreographer who integrates classical and African-American vernacular movements with mixed-media and Hip Hop culture. Through the lens of a contemporary black woman\, Curtis’ works ponder tradition and reinvention\, social justice\, social constructs as well as intuition and logic–often resulting in the subversion of an idea. She is the founder of Solo Magic\, a non-profit arts initiative collaborating with innovative artists to create socially relevant performances. She is a 2018 Artist Trust Fellow and a 2017 University of South Carolina Inaugural Visiting Fellow. Curtis was an artist-in-residence at SLIPPAGE Lab at Duke University this March. She is also the subject of an Emmy Award-winning short film\, Jade Solomon Curtis\, directed by Ralph Bevins. \nSome of the content in this performance may not be appropriate for young children.  \n \nThe presentation of Black Like Me: An Exploration of the Word N—– was made possible by the New England Foundation for the Arts’ National Dance Project\, with lead funding from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and The Andrew W. DESCRIPTION:“gorgeous\, and deeply moving.” – Huffington Post\, NYC\n“witty\, sexy\, and surreal.” – The New Yorker \nDance meets film meets virtual reality: Bridgman|Packer Dance will present Voyeur\, their highly acclaimed work that received a 2017 New York Dance and Performance Award. Featuring choreographer/performers Art Bridgman and Myrna Packer’s innovative work in “Video Partnering”—the integration of live performance and video technology— Voyeur is inspired by artist Edward Hopper’s world of color\, light\, perspective\, and under-the-surface eroticism. Fragmented moments of private lives are witnessed through windows and doorways. As the performers merge and collide with the video imagery\, the presence of a seen or unseen viewer lies at the heart of Voyeur. Voyeur will be paired with other work from Bridgman|Packer Dance’s repertory. \nArt Bridgman and Myrna Packer have been presented by Lincoln Center in New York City\, City Center’s Fall for Dance Festival\, 92nd Street Y Harkness Dance Festival\, Dance Theater Workshop (now New York Live Arts)\, Central Park Summerstage\, Baryshnikov Arts Center\, and The Sheen Center. The team of diverse\, impeccably trained dancers from the AATMA Performing Arts dance company combines authentic Indian and modern techniques bringing the streets Mumbai and New York into perfect harmony. \nOver HALF A MILLION people have seen Mystic India: The World Tour since its conception in 2011 through its successful tours in South Africa\, Switzerland\, Canada\, Bahrain\, China and various cities in the United States. The company has opened for Carrie Underwood in Las Vegas and performed at top venues including major casinos\, amusement parks and performing arts centers. DESCRIPTION:Catapult is\, technically\, a shadow dance company.  What it really is:  a theatrical art form that is an amazingly imaginative combination of dance\, story-telling\, and sculpture.   Founded in 2009\, by Adam Battlestein (choreographer\, Creative Director and Master Teaching Artist for Pilobolus Dance Theatre for 19 years)\, Catapult catapulted to fame on Season 8 of America’s Got Talent\, earning their way to the finals of the NBC-TV hit show. \nCatapult is all about the human body and its ability to transform.  The talented Catapult dancers work behind a screen to create seemingly impossible dancing shadow silhouettes of shapes from the world around us. You won’t believe your eyes as you watch these incredible dancers become a mountain\, a full size elephant\, a helicopter\, a house with a window and people inside the window.  You will never figure out how they do it\, and you won’t know what they will make next – you will be surprised and delighted again and again. Audiences of all ages love what appear to be effortless transformations and applaud over and over as more and more unbelievable images appear. \nCatapult’s “Magic Shadows” show is packed with hundreds of shape transformations\, and it is full of humor\, emotion\, and engaging stories.  There are 8 fully realized stories told through music and shadows and 6 short shadow dance videos which play between the live dances – brief moments of poetry or humor which perfectly cleanse the palate and prepare the audience for their next shadow journey.  Audiences leave this show dazed and happy\, and they will never look at their own shadow the same way again! \n

The Catapult dancers work behind a screen to create dancing shadow silhouettes of shapes from the natural and built world. Be amazed as you watch their bodies transform into a mountain\, an elephant\, a dragon\, even a helicopter! \nThis is an abbreviated 1 hour performance for children and school groups. DESCRIPTION:In its 25th year\, Koresh Dance Company presents Classic KORESH\, a selection of favorites drawn from the company’s quarter century of innovative work. These repertoire classics include interpretations of Classical compositions by Bach\, Beethoven\, and Ravel\, from the rolling strains of “Moonlight Sonata” to the trumpeting processions of “Bolero.” Moments of tenderness and grace alternate with humor and brash force on this tour of highlights drawn from over 60 existing works by Artistic Director Ronen Koresh. As a unique feature of our anniversary program\, Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23 will feature in a newly commissioned work\, “23: Deconstructing Mozart\,” a collaborative initiative driven by Koresh and multi-media artist Paul Miller\, a.k.a. DJ Spooky. There will be a post show Q&A with members of the company.
