SUMMARY:SONGWRITERS BY THE SEA
DESCRIPTION:Distinguished NJ Songwriters Joe Rapolla and Joe D’Urso are back this year hosting the celebrated Songwriters by the Sea series at the Lauren K. Woods Theatre. What once started in a small coffee shop as an area for local songwriters has now grown into a series that features some of the top songwriters in the country. This year\, the show features special guest Willie Nile. \nThe New York Times called Willie Nile “one of the most gifted singer-songwriters to emerge from the New York scene in years.” His album Streets Of New York was hailed as “a platter for the ages” by UNCUT magazine. Rolling Stone listed The Innocent Ones as one of the “Top Ten Best Under-The-Radar Albums of 2011” and BBC Radio called it “THE rock ‘n’ roll album of the year.” Bono\, Bruce Springsteen\, Pete Townshend\, Lou Reed\, Lucinda Williams\, Jim Jarmusch\, and Little Steven are among those who have sung his praises. His album\, American Ride\, won “Best Rock Album of the Year” at the Independent Music Awards. Willie has toured across the U.S. with The Who and has sung with Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band. As the induction program from the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame says: “His live performances are legendary.” In the summer of 2017 Willie Nile released his 11th studio album Positively Bob – Willie Nile Sings Bob Dylan to rave reviews.

SUMMARY:An Intimate Evening of Songs and Stories with Graham Nash
DESCRIPTION:Please note this event is SOLD OUT. Artist holds may be released day of show at the discretion of the performer. To sign up for the waiting list please call the box office at 732.263.5715.   \nLegendary artist Graham Nash is a two-time Rock and\nRoll Hall of Fame inductee – with Crosby\, Stills\, and Nash and with the\nHollies. He was also inducted twice into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame\, as a\nsolo artist and with CSN\, and he is a GRAMMY Award winner. \nTowering above virtually everything that Graham Nash\nhas accomplished in his first seventy-five years on this planet\, stands the\nlitany of songs that he has written and introduced to the soundtrack of the\npast half-century. His remarkable body of work\, beginning with his\ncontributions to the Hollies opus from 1964 to ’68\, including “Stop Stop Stop\,”\n“Pay You Back With Interest\,” “On A Carousel\,” “Carrie Anne\,” “King Midas In\nReverse\,” and “Jennifer Eccles\,” continues all the way to This Path Tonight\n(2016)\, his most recent solo album. \nThe original classic union of Crosby\, Stills &\nNash (& Young) lasted but twenty months. Yet their songs are lightning rods embedded in our DNA\, starting with Nash’s “Marrakesh Express\,” “Pre-Road Downs” (written for then-girlfriend Joni Mitchell)\, and “Lady Of the Island\,” from the first Crosby\, Stills &\nNash LP (1969). On CSNY’s Déjà Vu (1970)\, Nash’s “Teach Your Children” and “Our House” beseeched us to hold love tightly\, to fend off the madness that was on its way. \nOverlapping CSNY\, Nash’s solo career debuted with Songs\nFor Beginners (1971)\, whose “Chicago/We Can Change the World” and “Military\nMadness” were fueled by the Long Hot Summer\, the trial of the Chicago Eight\,\nand the ongoing Vietnam war. Songs from that LP stayed in Nash’s concert sets for years including “I Used To Be A King” and “Simple Man”. His next album\, Wild\nTales (1974)\, addressed (among other issues) unfair jail terms for minor\ndrug offenses (“Prison Song”)\, unfair treatment of Vietnam vets (“Oh! Camil”)\,\nthe unfairness of fame (“You’ll Never Be the Same”)\, and his muse\, Joni\n(“Another Sleep Song”). \nThe most resilient\, long-lived and productive\npartnership to emerge from the CSNY camp launched with the eponymously titled Graham\nNash/David Crosby (1972)\, bookended by Nash’s “Southbound Train” as the\nopening track and “Immigration Man” as the closer. The duo contributed further to the soundtrack of the ’70s on their back-to-back albums\, Wind On the Water (1975) and Whistling Down the Wire (1976). \nOn the CSN reunion studio LP (1977)\, Nash took\ntop honors with “Just A Song Before I Go” (written in the space of one hour\,\nand a Top 10 hit single). Lightning\nstruck once more on CSN’s Daylight Again (1982)\, on which Nash penned\ntheir second (and final) Top 10 hit\, “Wasted On the Way\,” lamenting the energy\,\ntime and love lost by the group due to years of internecine quarrels. \nNash’s passionate voice continues to be heard in support of peace\, and social and environmental justice. The No Nukes/Musicians United for Safe Energy (MUSE) concerts he organized with Jackson Browne and Bonnie Raitt in 1979 remain seminal benefit events. In 2011\, Nash was instrumental in bringing MUSE back to the forefront with a concert to benefit Japan disaster relief and groups promoting non-nuclear energy worldwide. That same year\, he and Crosby were among the many musicians who made their way to the Occupy Wall Street\nactions in lower Manhattan. \nIn September 2013\, Nash released his long-awaited autobiography Wild Tales\, which\ndelivers an engrossing\, no-holds-barred look back at his remarkable career and\nthe music that defined a generation. The book landed him on the New York Times\nBest Sellers list\, and was released in paperback in late 2014. \nIn recognition for his contributions as a musician and\nphilanthropist\, Nash was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British\nEmpire (OBE) by Queen Elizabeth. While continually building his musical legacy\,\nNash is also an internationally renowned photographer and visual artist. With\nhis photography\, Nash has drawn honors including the New York Institute of\nTechnology’s Arts & Technology Medal and Honorary Doctorate of Humane\nLetters and the Hollywood Film Festival’s inaugural Hollywood Visionary Cyber\nAward. His work is collected in the book Eye to Eye: Photographs by Graham Nash;\nhe curated others’ work in the volume Taking Aim: Unforgettable Rock ‘n’ Roll Photographs Selected by Graham Nash (2009). \nNash’s work has been shown in galleries and museums worldwide. His company Nash Editions’ original IRIS 3047 digital printer and one of its first published works—Nash’s 1969 portrait of David Crosby— is now housed in the National Museum of American History at the Smithsonian\nInstitution in recognition of his revolutionary accomplishments in the fine\narts and digital printing world. \nVIP PACKAGES \nGRAHAM NASH FRONT ROW – MEET & GREET VIP PACKAGE Package pricing: $375 Package inclusions: \n\nOne reserved ticket in Front Row \nMeet & Greet with Graham Nash during intermission \nVisit to preshow Sound Check with Graham Nash \nOne autographed tour poster \nOne commemorative Graham Nash laminate \nOne commemorative Graham Nash ticket \nCrowd free merchandise shopping \nOn site VIP staff \n\nGRAHAM NASH SOUNDCHECK PACKAGEPackage pricing: $275Package inclusions: \n\nOne reserved ticket within rows 2-5\nVisit to preshow Sound Check with Graham Nash \nOne autographed tour poster \nOne commemorative Graham Nash laminate \nOne commemorative Graham Nash ticket \nCrowd free merchandise shopping \nOn site VIP staff \n\nGRAHAM NASH PREMIUM PACKAGEPackage pricing: $175Package inclusions: \n\nOne reserved ticket within rows 6-9\nOne Graham Nash tour item \nOne commemorative Graham Nash ticket \nOn site VIP staff \n\nMUSE charity tickets – Guacamole Fund – $250Graham Nash’s passionate voice has often been heard in support of peace\, and social and environmental justice. SUMMARY:SOUTHSIDE JOHNNY AND THE POOR FOOLS
DESCRIPTION:Playing a wide range of music from Dylan\, Mose Allison\, Muddy Waters\, NRBQ\, Richard Thompson\, Emmylou Harris\, The Band\, George Jones and more\, The Poor Fools also dive into some of the Southside’s Asbury Jukes material–revisiting some classics as well as the underperformed deep tracks. “The Poor Fools tour is a chance for me to try out different material and some Jukes standards in an acoustic-ish form. In this incarnation\, musicians such as Jeff Kazee\, John Conte\, John Putnam\, Neal “The Dude” Pawley and I will all be singing\, playing\, and having some fun on stage. It will be a loose mix of songs\, stories and banter between the musicians and–hopefully–the audience. With Lyon shaking up each night’s setlist for himself and his gang of multi-instrumentalist band members\, these troubadours ride the rails of the runaway train known as Southside Johnny and The Poor Fools. \nThere will be a meet and greet for Gold Circle ticketholders at 6:30 PM.
