DESCRIPTION:EXHIBITION ON SCREEN journeys from the streets of Paris to the heart of the superb Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge\, whose extensive collection of Degas’ works is the most representative in Britain. \nWith exclusive access to view rare and diverse works\, Degas: Passion for Perfection offers a unique insight into Degas’ personal and creative life. The film uncovers the fascinating story of Degas’ obsessive pursuit for perfection through both experimentation with new techniques and lessons learnt from studying the past masters. \nNever fully satisfied\, many of Degas’ drawings and sculptures were kept in private during his lifetime but now\, through close examination\, they can be seen as some of the most beautifully detailed and expressive works in the modern era. The latest film in the EXHIBITION ON SCREEN series allows up-close access to this 21st-century master and his two recent blockbuster exhibitions held at the RoyalAcademy of Arts in London. \nFeaturing intimate and in-depth interviews with Hockney the film offers rare insights into the man behind such iconic works as A Bigger Splash and A Closer Grand Canyon. In conversation with Tim Marlow (Artistic Director at the Royal Academy of Arts)\, Hockney reveals anecdotes from across his artistic and personal life – from his first trip abroad to Egypt in 1963\, to the effects of the death of his close friend Jonathan Silver in 1997\, right up to today. DESCRIPTION:The story of Christ’s death and resurrection has dominated western culture for the past 2000 years. It is perhaps the most significant historical event of all time\, as recounted by the gospels but\, equally\, as depicted by the greatest artists in history. From the triumphant to the savage\, the ethereal to the tactile\, some of western civilization’s greatest artworks focus on this pivotal moment. \n\n\nThis beautifully crafted film explores the Easter story as depicted in art\, from the time of the early Christians to the present day. Shot on location in Jerusalem\, United States and throughout Europe\, the film explores the different ways artists have depicted the Easter story through the ages and thus depicts the history of us all. \n  \n

No artist better captures the essence and allure of the city than Giovanni Antonio Canal\, better known as Canaletto. Canaletto & the Art of Venice is an immersive journey into the life and art of Venice’s famous view-painter. No artist better captures the essence and allure of the city than Giovanni Antonio Canal\, better known as Canaletto. \nThe film offers the chance to step inside two official royal residences – Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle – to learn more about the artist\, and Joseph Smith\, the man who introduced Canaletto to Britain. \nViewers will embark on their very own 21st century Grand Tour\, visiting the sites enjoyed by their 18th century counterparts and immortalised in Canaletto’s views – from the Rialto Bridge to the Piazza San Marco\, and the Palazzo Ducale to the Church of Santi Giovanni e Paolo. The film is an opportunity to get closer to Canaletto and the city that inspired him. \n
