DESCRIPTION:The Jewish Cultural Studies Program at Monmouth University\nSpring 2015 program\n…Free of charge and open to all…\nA Poetry Reading\n“Poetry Au Jews: A Spiel and a Recitation”\nThursday\, March 12\, 2015Wilson Hall Auditorium\, Monmouth University\nPhilip Terman is the author of eight collections of poetry\, including The Torah Garden\, Rabbis of the Air\, Book of the Unbroken Days\, and The House of Sages. Autumn House Press will publish Our Portion: New and Selected Poems in 2015. His work has appeared in many journals and anthologies\, including Poetry Magazine\,  The Kenyon Review\, The Georgia Review\, The Sun Magazine\, The Bloomsbury Anthology of Contemporary Jewish American Poets\, 99 Poems for the 99 Percent\, and Blood to Remember: American Poets on the Holocaust. He has received the Anna Rosenberg Award for Poems on the Jewish Experience. When Comedy Went to School answers this question with an entertaining portrait of this country’s greatest generation of comics – the generation that includes the likes of Jerry Lewis\, Sid Caesar\, Jackie Mason\, Mort Sahl\, and Jerry Stiller – all of whom make appearances in the film\, telling jokes and telling their stories. The answer is also found in upstate New York’s Catskill Mountains\, aka the Borscht Belt\, where Jewish immigrants transformed lush farmland into the 20th century’s largest resort complex.
