From the triumphant to the savage\, the ethereal to the tactile\, some of western civilization’s greatest artworks focus on this pivotal moment. \n\n\nThis beautifully crafted film explores the Easter story as depicted in art\, from the time of the early Christians to the present day. Shot on location in Jerusalem\, United States and throughout Europe\, the film explores the different ways artists have depicted the Easter story through the ages and thus depicts the history of us all. \n  \n

No artist better captures the essence and allure of the city than Giovanni Antonio Canal\, better known as Canaletto. \nThe film offers the chance to step inside two official royal residences – Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle – to learn more about the artist\, and Joseph Smith\, the man who introduced Canaletto to Britain. \nViewers will embark on their very own 21st century Grand Tour\, visiting the sites enjoyed by their 18th century counterparts and immortalised in Canaletto’s views – from the Rialto Bridge to the Piazza San Marco\, and the Palazzo Ducale to the Church of Santi Giovanni e Paolo.
