{"id":1600,"date":"2024-02-19T11:25:01","date_gmt":"2024-02-19T16:25:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/disability-services\/?page_id=1600"},"modified":"2024-02-19T11:31:18","modified_gmt":"2024-02-19T16:31:18","slug":"requesting-meal-plan-accommodations","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/disability-services\/requesting-meal-plan-accommodations\/","title":{"rendered":"Requesting Meal Plan Accommodations"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Intent: <\/strong>To outline the process of requesting a disability related accommodation for the University meal plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Accountability: <\/strong>The Director of DDS and all DDS professional staff, the ADA\/ 504 Coordinator, and students with disabilities requesting DDS accommodations and support services.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Applicability:<\/strong> Students registered with the Department of Disability Services and approved for a meal plan accommodation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Please note:<\/strong> Gourmet Dining is the company that provides dining services to Monmouth University. All students living in the residence halls are required to have a meal plan.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Procedure: <\/strong>Students requesting a disability related accommodation for the University\u2019s meal plan must complete the following steps:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Register with the <a href=\"https:\/\/monmouth-accommodate.symplicity.com\/public_accommodation\/\">Department of Disability Services (DDS) <\/a>and present documentation supporting the need for an accommodation to the University\u2019s meal plan. Documentation must be completed by a licensed practitioner, physician, or allergist.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Meet with a Disability specialist to discuss their request.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>After the student\u2019s initial meeting with a Disability Specialist, the Disability Specialist will forward the student Gourmet Dining\u2019s dietician contact information. The student will then make an appointment with the Gourmet Dining dietician.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>It is the student\u2019s responsibility to schedule and keep appointments with Gourmet Dining\u2019s dietician.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Gourmet Dining\u2019s dietician will inform the assigned disability specialist if Gourmet Dining can meet the needs of the student, and if so, present a plan for moving forward.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The assigned disability specialist will inform the student of the meal plan accommodation decision.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><\/strong><strong>&nbsp;It is Gourmet Dining\u2019s dietician who determines if and how the company can accommodate the student\u2019s meal plan related needs.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If the student does not agree with the determination, they have the option to file an appeal with the <a href=\"http:\/\/monmouth.edu\/equity-and-diversity\/\">ADA\/ 504 Coordinator<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Intent: To outline the process of requesting a disability related accommodation for the University meal plan.
