Research Interests

Dr. Kucharczyk is the coordinator of courses in the General Education Natural Science curriculum and teaches SC100, Discovery and Thinking in the Natural Sciences. She enjoys her role as advisor to second- and third-year students in the Department’s Medical Laboratory Science and Clinical Laboratory Sciences programs.  She also serves as the faculty advisor to the 5678 Dance Club and performs in its recitals.  She is an inorganic chemist by training; however, from 2006 to 2017 she was significantly involved in the organic chemistry program at MU, teaching Organic Chemistry I and II Laboratories and serving as the course coordinator for these laboratories. In addition she taught General Chemistry and General Chemistry Laboratory.  From 2010 to 2016 she co-directed the School of Science Peer Mentor Program along with School of Science Associate Dean Catherine Duckett.  Her academic interests lie in the area of science education; she involves herself regularly in SENCER (Science Education for New Civic Engagements and Responsibilities) activities.  Dr. Kucharczyk received the Hawks Fly Together Leadership Award in recognition of her contributions to the University in 2012.
