Janeth Merkle, DBA, is the assistant dean for Student Engagement at the Leon Hess Business School at Monmouth University. As a member of the dean’s leadership team, she assumes various crucial responsibilities. These include close collaboration with the dean and the associate dean in spearheading the school’s accreditation efforts, managing student and faculty data in alignment with AACSB standards, providing support to chairs, faculty, school-wide committees, and ensuring completion of annual Business School Questionnaires in compliance with AACSB. Merkle founded the school’s Executive Mentoring Program, which boasts a roster of around a hundred executive mentors dedicated to guiding business students on their path to career readiness. She played a pivotal role in successfully implementing the LHBS’s co-curricular program – Hess ENGAGE – which tracks students’ on- and off-campus experiences beyond the classroom. She established the Financial Literacy Program, enabling business student to impart essential knowledge about personal finance to high school participants. Merkle advises three student organizations: Enactus, Phi Beta Lambda, and H.R. Club. She formed the Dean’s Student Advisory Council, and the chapter president for Beta Gamma Sigma – The International Business Honor Society.
Beyond her university commitments, Merkle actively engages in community service. She is the current vice-chair of the board for the New Jersey Collegiate Business Administration Association, a member of the Board and College Relations Committee Chair for the Jersey Shore Association for Human Resources, and a former board member of the Eastern Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce.
