The <a href=\"https:\/\/catalog.monmouth.edu\/undergraduate-catalog\/education\/speech-language-pathology\/communication-sciences-disorders-minor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">undergraduate minor in CSD<\/a> provides undergraduate students with the prerequisite coursework required to apply for graduate study in SLP or Audiology. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/graduate\/speech-language-pathology-msed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">M.S.Ed. in SLP<\/a> is the required clinical degree to become a licensed, certified practitioner of speech-language pathology. Here at Monmouth University, our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/graduate\/speech-language-pathology-msed\/center-for-speech-and-language-disorders\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Center for Speech and Language Disorders<\/a> provides an in-house clinical experience for first-year M.S.Ed. in SLP students. Second-year M.S.Ed. in SLP students are engaged in externships with community partners, including public schools, clinics, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, special schools, and private practices. These community-based experiences assist our student clinicians in exploring complex populations and provide them with hands-on instruction on how to deliver evidence-based speech, language, hearing, cognitive, and swallowing (deglutition) services. All clinical training is supervised by NJ-licensed, ASHA-certified speech-language pathologists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to undergraduate study and preservice clinical training, many of our students are involved in research with our faculty. Both undergraduate CSD and graduate SLP students have presented their research projects locally at the Monmouth University Student Scholarship Week, regionally at the New Jersey Speech-Language-Hearing Association Convention, and nationally at the Annual Convention of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.monmouth.edu\/directory\/department\/speech-language-pathology\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The SLP faculty\u2019s<\/a> current active research includes studies on fluency, voice disorders, and evidence-based teaching and learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Master of Science in Education (M.S.Ed.) education program in speech-language pathology (residential) at Monmouth University is accredited by the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/caa.asha.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology<\/a>&nbsp;of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, 2200 Research Boulevard, #310, Rockville, MD 20850,&nbsp;<a href=\"tel:+118004982071\">800-498-2071<\/a>&nbsp;or&nbsp;<a href=\"tel:=13012965700\">301-296-5700<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Accreditation signifies to students, the general public, and all interested parties that the program of study has met the rigorous standards designed to ensure that programs strive for excellence in educating students. <a href=\"https:\/\/caa.asha.org\/ask-the-caa\/accreditation-and-certification\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)&#8217;s website<\/a> provides greater detail on what accreditation requires and means to students and the public.
