As active participants in the study of behavior and mental processes, our students learn to think critically, reason scientifically, exercise ethical responsibility, be cognizant of diversity, and speak and write in the discourse of the discipline. Students accomplish these aims through extensive research training, internship opportunities, caring academic advising, and career\/professional development throughout the major. With this foundation, our students become better prepared to develop their potential for lifelong learning. These opportunities often result in publications and professional conference presentations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Faculty research topics include: <\/strong>children\u2019s play, human and animal mating, self-control, adolescent emotional development, clinical psychology, and intimate relationships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Career Exploration through Internships: <\/strong>We offer many opportunities for real world experience where students can apply their knowledge in the field through internships and clinical psychology courses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Academic Mentoring:<\/strong> Each student has a faculty advisor who helps students make decisions about courses, internships, research experience, and professional development.
