One of Few Schools to Offer Music Industry<\/h2>\n\n\n

Monmouth is one of only a handful of institutions in the country to offer a concentration in music industry. Few students have this opportunity to study applied music along with the business methods behind music production and distribution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Monmouth’s Own Student-Run Record Label<\/h2>\n\n\n

Blue Hawk Records<\/a> is an independent, student-run record label and music organization designed to provide music and experience for the students, by the students. Its mission is to equip students in the Music Industry program, as well as others in the University, with relevant, hands-on experience and familiarize them with the typical workings of different occupations in the Music Industry.<\/p>\n\n\n

Experienced and Knowledgeable Faculty<\/h2>\n\n\n

Monmouth’s faculty members have years of experience in making and promoting popular music. They have worked as record producers, music directors, and record label and media executives\u2026and still do!<\/p>\n\n\n

Real-World, Hands-On Experience<\/h2>\n\n\n

As part of Monmouth’s commitment to experiential education, students take part making and marketing music for real artists, produce and promote live events, and participate in 3-credit internships (MU 401, 402, and 403) that provide them with valuable experience in the music and entertainment business. Because the University is only one hour from New York City and Philadelphia, and right in the heart of the viable Jersey Shore music scene, students can pursue a variety of internship opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n

Courses Through Monmouth’s Top Business School<\/h2>\n\n\n

Students in the music industry concentration also take business courses through the Leon Hess Business School, honored as one of the best business schools in North America by
The Princeton Review<\/em>. These courses provide a nice complement to the core music courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
