The UCI provides opportunities for<br \/>\nstudents to expand their knowledge of GIS through hands-on courses and research<br \/>\nprojects. These opportunities allow students to investigate the problems facing<br \/>\nour coastal environments and communities alongside UCI researchers. Background<br \/>\nfrom the GIS minor can help students learn how the UCI performs data<br \/>\ncollection, research design, and scientific communication.
