A minor in GIS provides a computational skill set complementary to many major fields of study. Jobs in a variety of fields, such as anthropology and marine science, require GIS skills, and the minor teaches you how to apply GIS for your field. GIS-related jobs offer competitive salaries (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/ooh\/architecture-and-engineering\/cartographers-and-photogrammetrists.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">US Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2016<\/a>), and have been targeted as a High Growth Job Training Initiative by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.doleta.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">US Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration<\/a>. The need for GIS skills is increasing, and the minor will teach you GIS skills through real-world applications both in and out of the classroom.
