Meet Our Alum

Sonia completed an undergraduate degree in education in 1998 from the University of Cádiz. In 2014 Sonia continued her dedication to learning and professional development by enrolling in the Bilingual/Bicultural and ESL programs at Monmouth University. In 2016, she completed an M.S. in Education with concentration in Literacy Education with a Bilingual/Bicultural Endorsement and ESL Endorsement.

During Sonia’s time in the School of Education at Monmouth University, she served as a role model and member of Beta Pi Chapter of Alpha Upsilon Alpha. Her leadership was again demonstrated when she served as one of the presenters featured in the 2015 Fall Literacy Symposium, held annually through the Department of Curriculum & Instruction at Monmouth University.

Sonia has continued her dedicated work in the classroom as a Bilingual/Bicultural and ESL teacher in the Red Bank School district since 2012. Currently, she leads a bilingual/bicultural middle school classroom for the Red Bank Borough Public Schools in Red Bank, NJ. She continues to work on researching and learning best practices for bilingual students in diverse school settings. Sonia continues to exemplify and model a love of learning and supporting access to learning for all students.
