Lonell completed her undergraduate degree in Art and Education in 1998 at Monmouth University. It was her academic experiences in her student teaching at the Amerigo A. Anastasia and Lenna Conrow Schools in Long Branch, coupled with her athletic experience on the Women’s Lacrosse team that opened the door to her career in education with Long Branch Public Schools. 

Lonell was an elementary art educator for 16 years and coached the girls lacrosse team for 10 years. In 2008 Lonell completed her Masters degree and shortly after received her supervisors certification. In 2014 she was appointed District Supervisor of the Visual and Performing Arts for the Long Branch Public Schools where she reconnected with Monmouth University through school and community partnerships.

In 2020 Lonell returned to the classroom as a K-12 art educator and in 2021 began as an adjunct professor at Monmouth University. Currently Lonell is pursuing her passion of working with young artists in an environment that piques students curiosity and allows them to experiment with materials while making connections with the community and world around them.
