Their role is to support students in completing their own work by identifying and using learning strategies that best meet their individual needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ultimate goal of peer tutoring is to help students discover how they learn most effectively and develop the skills, confidence, and independence needed to achieve their academic goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To make an appointment with a Peer Tutor, visit the Navigate360 website or download the <strong>Navigate Student<\/strong> app on your mobile device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"academic-coaching\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Academic Coaching<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Academic Coaches are faculty members with strong teaching backgrounds and expertise in study strategies and learning styles. They provide comprehensive support to students seeking to strengthen their academic and self-management skills, including time management, organization, and effective study strategies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through Tutoring Services, Monmouth University offers Academic Coaching to help students achieve their academic goals while developing self-advocacy skills and becoming independent, lifelong learners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To schedule weekly sessions with an academic coach, please log onto the navigate 360 app, &nbsp;email <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"mailto:tutoringservices@monmouth.edu\" rel=\"noopener\">tutoringservices@monmouth.edu<\/a>, call <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"tel:+17325713542\" rel=\"noopener\">732-571-3542<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"need-academic-support\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Need Academic Support?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Schedule a Peer Tutor through <strong>Navigate360<\/strong> in your myMU Portal or the <strong>Navigate Student<\/strong> app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students may schedule:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Two one-hour sessions per week.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Four 30-minute sessions per week.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Feel you need more time? MISSION STATEMENT: The mission of Tutoring Services is to assist the students of Monmouth University by strengthening their skills in various content areas, as well as time management and study skills. Tutoring\u00a0Services will provide quality tutors who excel in their areas of expertise. Tutoring Services will offer a series of workshops covering specific study skills. The department will promote and foster independent learning and thinking to enhance confidence in the students to achieve in all aspects of their learning and enable them to attain continued success throughout their academic career. THE GOAL OF EACH TUTORIAL: The goal of each tutorial is to assist students in developing strategies that will help strengthen their knowledge, develop transferable learning skills, and achieve academic success. TUTORING SESSIONS: Tutoring Services staff will work with each student individually to provide the best type of tutorial. Each student will then be scheduled for a tutorial with a peer tutor or master tutor. Both individual and group tutoring sessions are available. WORKSHOPS: Workshops are offered in a variety of study skills areas including college textbook reading strategies, time management and test-taking strategies. PEER TUTORS: All Peer Tutors are students who have excellent academic standing and excel in the areas in which they tutor. MASTER TUTORS: Master Tutors are faculty members who have strong teaching backgrounds and provide assistance with course content, study strategies, and learning styles. FRESHMAN STUDIES TUTORIAL PROGRAM: The freshman year is an important transition period. Tutoring Services, working with the First Year Advising Office, offers special services to freshmen to assist them with their adjustment to the rigors of college-level academics.
