Message to the Class of 2021 (March 15, 2021)

Dear Graduate or Degree Candidate,

I hope this message finds you and your family well as we continue to navigate through this unprecedented period of time.

I am sure you continue to wonder about the University’s plans for commencement, hence my reason for communicating with you again today.

Currently, the State of New Jersey has only provided guidance for events being held outside at facilities with 5,000 fixed seats (predominantly athletic and entertainment venues) but we are still waiting to receive guidance on Commencements. Monmouth’s facility (Kessler Stadium) falls below the 5,000 seat threshold so we are still restricted to the rule of 50 people gathered outside and 25 people gathered inside starting March 19, 2021, per the Governor’s recent order.

Please be assured that Monmouth University is committed to holding in person commencement ceremonies on campus when it is safe to do so and permitted by the state. Given this, it is not yet possible for us to announce dates or ceremony structures without further guidance from the state. We hope to have that soon and once we do, we will communicate again with you. Please continue to check your student email for more information as it becomes available.

In the meantime, in partnership with Herff Jones, we want to supply you with your cap, gown and tassel and have it delivered to you for free. When we are able to schedule an in person event you will be expected to bring this cap/gown/hood/tassel with you to campus for the ceremony. Follow the link below to give your size and shipping information. You also have the opportunity to purchase any additional items to commemorate your graduation. Diploma frames and souvenir tassels are also available for purchase online.

Cap and gown ordering will begin on Monday, March 15, 2021 and will end on Friday, April 9, 2021 at midnight.
