Glencliff Labs is a Utah-based startup founded by an MIT and Dartmouth alum with 15+ years of experience building software products.<\/p>\n<h3>About Glencliff Labs<\/h3>\n<p>Glencliff Labs is a Utah-based startup building technology for the outdoors.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re building software that helps people make better decisions about where and when to recreate outdoors using real-world conditions, geospatial data, and AI.<\/p>\n<p>We also work with leading organizations in the outdoor industry, including a leading avalanche forecasting center.<\/p>\n<p>Glencliff Labs is an AI-native company: we use AI across the business to enable a very small team to build and operate at the speed of a much larger organization.<\/p>\n<h3>About the Founder<\/h3>\n<p>Glencliff Labs was founded by an MIT and Dartmouth alum with 15+ years of experience building software products at Fortune 500 companies and high-growth technology startups.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll work directly with the founder on product and engineering decisions.<\/p>\n<h3>The Role<\/h3>\n<p>We\u2019re looking for a software engineering intern to join us during the launch of a new consumer outdoor product.<\/p>\n<p>This is a hands-on engineering role with substantial ownership. You\u2019ll ship real product features to users rather than work on isolated intern projects.<\/p>\n<p>We care less about credentials than evidence that you can build. The strongest candidates will have shipped software independently, use AI as a core part of their development workflow, and be comfortable taking ownership of ambiguous problems.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Depending on your interests and experience, projects could include:<\/li>\n<li>Building and shipping new product features<\/li>\n<li>Developing AI-powered product capabilities and services<\/li>\n<li>Working with maps, geospatial data, and GIS<\/li>\n<li>Building data ingestion and processing pipelines<\/li>\n<li>Improving the performance and reliability of our applications<\/li>\n<li>Prototyping new approaches quickly and turning successful experiments into production software<\/li>\n<li>Using AI coding tools and agents throughout the development process<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>What We&#8217;re Looking For<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Required<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Evidence of building substantive software projects, whether independently, at school, or through prior work<\/li>\n<li>Strong software engineering fundamentals<\/li>\n<li>Thoughtful, frequent use of modern AI development tools to plan, build, debug, and iterate<\/li>\n<li>Ability to take a loosely defined problem, investigate it, and make progress independently<\/li>\n<li>Genuine, active interest in outdoor recreation<\/li>\n<li>Ability to commit 10\u201315 hours per week during the academic year<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Nice to have<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>GIS or geospatial development experience<\/li>\n<li>Experience working with mapping technologies or geospatial datasets<\/li>\n<li>Mobile application development experience<\/li>\n<li>Data engineering or data pipeline experience<\/li>\n<li>Experience shipping your own projects, contributing to startups, or building products used by real users<\/li>\n<li>Computer science or related technical coursework<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>What You&#8217;ll Get<\/h3>\n<p>You\u2019ll get a firsthand look at what it takes to launch and grow a new software business \u2014 from identifying user problems and making product decisions to building features, launching them, analyzing user feedback, and iterating based on what you learn.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll work directly with the founder and have meaningful ownership of production software used by real users.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll also learn how a small AI-native team approaches product development: using modern AI tools alongside strong product and engineering practices to move quickly, test ideas, and ship high-quality software.<\/p>\n<h3>Details<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<strong>Commitment:<\/strong> 10\u201315 hours\/week<\/li>\n<li>\n<strong>Compensation:<\/strong> $30\/hour<\/li>\n<li>\n<strong>Location:<\/strong> Remote; Glencliff Labs is based in Utah<\/li>\n<li>\n<strong>Start:<\/strong> Fall 2026<\/li>\n<li>\n<strong>Duration:<\/strong> Initially during the academic year, with the opportunity to continue longer if it\u2019s a good fit for both sides<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>How to Apply<\/h3>\n<p>Please include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A link to a GitHub profile, portfolio, or software project you\u2019ve built<\/li>\n<li>2-3 sentences about something you built and what you personally worked on<\/li>\n<li>2-3 sentences describing how you currently use AI tools when building software<\/li>\n<li>A brief description of the outdoor activities you participate in most often or briefly tell us about a recent outdoor trip.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>\n<br \/><strong>Application Process<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/h3>\n<p>Selected candidates will have an initial conversation followed by a short technical\/project discussion.
