You will empower the people you support to pursue their dreams and live more fully, both at home and in the community.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You\u2019ll Focus On:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Supporting a person\u00a0<strong>one-on-one in their home and community<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Traveling to outings and activities around NYC.<\/li>\n<li>Assisting the person with work towards their chosen goals in areas including socialization, travel training, communication, activities of daily living, etc&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This position allows you to directly impact someone\u2019s journey toward greater independence, all while having fun and creating memorable moments along the way!<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Schedule:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is a\u00a0<strong>part-time position.\u00a0<\/strong>The role typically offers some flexibility with hours, working between\u00a0<strong>16-40 hours per week, generally between the hours of 3pm to 8:30pm.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>What We\u2019re Looking For:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<strong>Education:<\/strong>\u00a0A High School Diploma or GED is preferred. We highly value continued education in fields like Psychology, Social Work, Art Therapy, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Nursing, or any other related fields.<\/li>\n<li>\n<strong>Skills:<\/strong>\u00a0You should display\u00a0<strong>excellent communication skills<\/strong>\u00a0(reading, writing, speaking) and have basic\u00a0<strong>technology skills<\/strong>\u00a0to document observations and monitor progress.<\/li>\n<li>\n<strong>Comfort with Daily Living Skills (ADLs):<\/strong>\u00a0You should feel comfortable assisting individuals with\u00a0<strong>ADLs<\/strong>\u00a0(activities of daily living) like\u00a0<strong>bathing, dressing, grooming, cooking, and traveling.<\/strong>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<strong>Training:<\/strong>\u00a0You must be able to participate in the\u00a0<strong>5 day NYS Mandated OPWDD initial training<\/strong>\u00a0during normal business hours\u00a0<strong>(9am-5pm)\u00a0<\/strong>upon hire.<\/li>\n<li>\n<strong>Health Requirements:<\/strong>\u00a0A tuberculosis test is required before the start date.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Additional Skills:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><u>Candidates with proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) are especially encouraged to apply!<\/u><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Why Join Us:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At\u00a0<strong>YAI<\/strong>, our vision is to help individuals live their\u00a0<strong>fullest, most independent lives<\/strong>.
