In this role, you will support long-term capacity-building projects designed to improve planning, coordination, and outreach related to disaster readiness and emergency response.<\/p>\n<p>This position is ideal for someone passionate about community safety, project development, and public service. Through your year of service, you\u2019ll gain valuable skills while making a lasting impact.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What You\u2019ll Do<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As a Disaster Preparedness VISTA Member, you will help advance our mission by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Developing and enhancing disaster preparedness plans, resources, and training materials.<\/li>\n<li>Supporting community outreach to increase awareness and readiness for emergencies.<\/li>\n<li>Researching best practices and helping implement sustainable preparedness strategies.<\/li>\n<li>Strengthening partnerships with local agencies, nonprofits, and community groups.<\/li>\n<li>Building systems to track program data, resources, and long-term partnerships.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What You\u2019ll Gain<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience in emergency management, program development, and community outreach.<\/li>\n<li>Professional training and mentorship provided through AmeriCorps VISTA.<\/li>\n<li>The chance to lead capacity-building projects that directly support community resilience.<\/li>\n<li>Living allowance, education award, and other VISTA member benefits.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Ideal Candidate<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re looking for someone who is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Organized, motivated, and eager to learn.<\/li>\n<li>Interested in emergency management, community engagement, or public safety.<\/li>\n<li>Comfortable managing projects, conducting research, and working independently.<\/li>\n<li>Passionate about helping communities prepare for and respond to emergencies.<\/li>\n<li>State of Michigan Residents First.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must be 18 years or older.<\/li>\n<li>Must be a U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident.<\/li>\n<li>Must commit to a full year of service as a VISTA member.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Submit your application through Handshake.
