S\/he must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment and develop positive relationships with the children and their parents. Assistants are responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children&#8217;s interests and needs under the direction of the Teacher and\/or the Group Supervisor.<\/p>\n<p>This Position Reports to the Program Site Director\/Group Supervisor<\/p>\n<p>Key Responsibilities<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist in the implementation of curricula activities and encourage participation by children.<\/li>\n<li>Actively engage in activities inside and outside; manage cleanliness, order, and availability of classroom materials.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain daily communications with parents through informal discussions.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to communicate effectively with children to ensure safety, relationships, and guidance<\/li>\n<li>Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.<\/li>\n<li>Follow all Stepping Stones policies and state regulations.<\/li>\n<li>Maintain a personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.<\/li>\n<li>All other duties as assigned.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum of 2 years (2,500 hours) of professional experience in childcare or working\/volunteering with children.<\/li>\n<li>High energy.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work well with others.<\/li>\n<li>An understanding of child development.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to interact with children on different levels including the floor, lift\/carry children and supplies, and move around the center while supervising children.<\/li>\n<li>Flexibility in classroom and hour assignments.<\/li>\n<li>Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification.<\/li>\n<li>Must pass a full background check, drug screening test, and health screening.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Educational Requirements<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>High School Diploma and at least 2,500 hours of experience working with children.<\/li>\n<li>Willingness to complete a CDA, SAC, or credit equivalent coursework<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>About Stepping Stones Children&#8217;s Center<\/p>\n<p>Stepping Stones is a non-profit childcare center based north of Pittsburgh in Gibsonia, PA with multiple program offerings, including: (i) full-day childcare at our Main Center location in Gibsonia for infants through Pre-K, (ii) before and after school care programs for elementary school students in two local school districts (care is provided on school property), (iii) extended day program for half-day kindergarten students in two local school districts, and (iv) full-day summer camp.
