Youth Counselor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Now Hiring:\u00a0Girls Inc.\u00a0Youth Counselor<\/strong>\u00a0<br \/><strong>Hourly\u00a0Pay Range:<\/strong>\u00a0$17.50 \u2013 $18.50\u00a0<br \/><strong>Status:<\/strong>\u00a0Part-Time\u00a0<br \/><strong>Location:<\/strong>\u00a0Midtown YWCA<\/p>\n<p><strong>What You\u2019ll Do:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As the Girls Inc. Youth Counselor, you will provide\u00a0direct service to participants with a focus on inspiring youth to make positive decisions for themselves and their futures.\u00a0 This part-time position provides direct service to\u00a0participants in\u00a0Girls Inc. OST program, ages 9-14 and supports occasional Saturday Eureka! Groups (ages 14-18) and miscellaneous workshops. There is\u00a0an opportunity for full-time work during summer programming.<\/p>\n<p>Youth Counselors build and maintain relationships with Minneapolis Public School contacts, and other youth serving agencies, to meet necessary programming goals and objectives. This position utilizes Girls Inc. curriculum to facilitate groups during out of school time hours.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Plan, prepare and\u00a0facilitate\/co-facilitate age appropriate and culturally\u00a0informed\u00a0educational activities\u00a0utilizing\u00a0Girls Inc. curriculum<\/li>\n<li>Support in recruiting and maintaining program participants<\/li>\n<li>Help develop and maintain a safe learning environment that is student-centered, mission-focused, and accessible to a diverse student body<\/li>\n<li>Support communication\u00a0and retention\u00a0with participants and families. Track program attendance daily and enter information into database on regular basis<\/li>\n<li>Participate in educational activities and trainings for professional and\u00a0programmatic\u00a0development including attending and\u00a0participating\u00a0in departmental and\u00a0Girls Inc. program team meetings<\/li>\n<li>Additional duties as assigned<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Schedule<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>School Year:\u00a0Monday-Thursday after school hours;\u00a0flexible morning and\u00a0Friday\u00a0hours.\u00a0One Saturday a month\u00a0required<\/p>\n<p>Summer:\u00a0Monday-Friday 9-5pm<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who You Are:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You are interested in\u00a0working with girls and gender expansive youth\u00a0and have familiarity\u00a0working with diverse school populations.\u00a0\u00a0You are interested in learning and\u00a0growing\u00a0in a team-based environment.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Core Competencies<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<strong>Relationship\u00a0Building:<\/strong>\u00a0You enjoy building strong relationships with elementary aged youth<\/li>\n<li>\n<strong>Consistency:\u00a0<\/strong> You are reliable and show up on time and prepared<\/li>\n<li>\n<strong>Growth Mindset:\u00a0<\/strong>You take advantage of opportunities for\u00a0growth; feedback is a tool for improvement not a set back<\/li>\n<li>\n<strong>Cultural Responsiveness:<\/strong>\u00a0You\u00a0engage effectively with youth and families from\u00a0a\u00a0variety of\u00a0racial, ethnic, and economic backgrounds<\/li>\n<li>\n<strong>Communication:<\/strong>\u00a0You are comfortable with communicating your needs and challenges to your supervisor and working collaboratively to address them<\/li>\n<li>\n<strong>Accountability: <\/strong>You take personal responsibility for your actions\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Required<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>High School Diploma\/GED<\/li>\n<li>One year of experience working with youth from low-income and\/or inner-city families<\/li>\n<li>One year of experience planning and facilitating effective, structured groups<\/li>\n<li>Strong oral, written and presentation skills<\/li>\n<li>Ability to carry out duties independently, as well as in team setting<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work with a variety of cultures, backgrounds and perspectives<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency\u00a0in Microsoft\u00a0365<\/li>\n<li>CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain)<\/li>\n<li>Reliable transportation to be able to travel to after-school sites<\/li>\n<li>Belief in the mission of the YWCA Minneapolis\u00a0and able to convey its importance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Why YWCA Minneapolis<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When you work here, you\u2019re joining a movement.
