With a global network of thousands of medical, scientific, and legal experts, PHR uses the power of medical and scientific evidence to document human rights and humanitarian law violations and prevent abuses, protect survivors, and promote justice and universal human rights for all.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Building upon its highly respected place in the field, and supported by a committed and talented team, PHR seeks a Digital\u00a0Campaigns\u00a0Intern.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Location<\/strong>: New York,\u00a0New York\u00a0and\/or Hybrid\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reports to:\u202f<\/strong>Digital Communications Manager\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Organizational Overview<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Physicians for Human Rights was founded in 1986 by five physicians who were united in the belief that health professionals, with their specialized skills, ethical duties, and credible voices, are uniquely positioned to prevent harm and promote respect for human rights. Since its founding, PHR has built a long and distinguished record of accomplishment by conducting groundbreaking investigations and advocacy, in concert with strategic partners.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>PHR\u2019s approach includes extensive documentation of the use of illegal and inhumane weapons in armed conflicts, attacks on civilians, and the physical and psychological impacts of torture and sexual violence as a weapon of war. Other core activities include protecting the rights of those seeking asylum in the United States, the human rights implications of the COVID-19 pandemic, and halting attacks on medical facilities and frontline health professionals.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Internship Description<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The digital communications internship is ideal for a student seeking a hands-on opportunity to work on\u00a0email marketing,\u00a0digital storytelling, social media creative,\u00a0donation page development,\u00a0and graphic design in a nonprofit setting. The intern will work as an integral part of PHR\u2019s digital team to help spread awareness of PHR\u2019s efforts to document and prevent human rights\u00a0abuses\u00a0around the world.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The digital communications intern will attend departmental and staff meetings, as well as regular learning and social events with other interns and staff from PHR to round out the learning experience and complement PHR-provided career mentoring.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>PHR offers stipends to student interns. The specific stipend amount will be\u00a0determined\u00a0by the average number of hours worked by the intern per week. Details will\u00a0be further\u00a0provided during the interview process.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Duties and Responsibilities<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Support the implementation, formatting, testing, and scheduling of email marketing and fundraising campaigns.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Build and update donation forms\u00a0and\u00a0campaign landing pages within PHR\u2019s digital fundraising platform, ensuring\u00a0data is accurately\u00a0synced\u00a0to our\u00a0CRM\u00a0platform\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Assist\u00a0in developing digital content, including email copy, website copy, fundraising appeals, social media posts, and promotional materials.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Conduct quality assurance checks to verify links, images,\u00a0and\u00a0personalization\u00a0fields\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Help segment email audiences and prepare campaign variations based on donor status, engagement, or other criteria.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate campaign assets and\u00a0maintain\u00a0production calendars, checklists, and project documentation.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Support\u00a0the testing and development\u00a0of\u00a0subject lines, email content,\u00a0e-actions, donation pages, and other campaign elements.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Track and organize performance data for email, fundraising, and digital engagement campaigns.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Design graphics and edit or transcribe videos using Canva and\/or Adobe Creative Cloud\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Assist\u00a0in data\u00a0maintenance and\u00a0digital marketing\u00a0research as needed\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Qualifications and Experience<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program of study specializing in digital media, communications, marketing, or other relevant major\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Interest in digital storytelling in a nonprofit setting\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Canva, and Adobe Creative Suite\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Experience with (or interest in learning)\u00a0email marketing platforms\u00a0and digital marketing analytics\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Superior organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to\u00a0facilitate\u00a0a project from start to finish\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and professionally\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Mature judgment, confidentiality, and capacity to work independently\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Not afraid to take initiative and suggest ideas\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Location and Hours<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The internship will follow a hybrid work model, with some work conducted remotely and some in our office\u00a0located\u00a0in Midtown, Manhattan.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>We welcome applications from candidates\u00a0located\u00a0out\u00a0of state.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Hours can be flexible to accommodate\u00a0different types\u00a0of schedules.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The internship will commence in\u00a0September\u00a0with at least a 12-week commitment.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How to Apply<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Please apply by sending a cover letter, resume, and writing\u00a0sample\u00a0to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:resumes@phr.org\">resumes@phr.org<\/a>.
